The Expressive Intelligence Studio at the University of Southern California Santa Cruz has announced a StarCraft: Brood War AI competition, to take place at the 2010 conference on Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment (AIIDE 2010). AI can compete in four different tournaments: -Micro-management -Small scale combat -Tech-limited game -Full game The top-performing bots will be pitted against skilled human players in exhibition matches. The competition is intended for academic AI researchers, but it's an interesting thing to look at. This is exactly what it looks like: the sponsors of this competition are asking the best AI researchers in the world to develop an AI that plays our favorite game! And no- they're not allowed to cheat (like the normal SC AI), except in the 3rd tournament. (rules) Also from the rules: "Bad mannered in game behavior is discouraged, but not forbidden"
I had to lol at the part where they tell which tricks/bugs you may exploit. Since when are stacking air units and using plague on interceptors bugs? It's not like you can possibly avoid the last one anyway.
Rofl @ "Bad mannered in game behavior is discouraged, but not forbidden" Perhaps make a bot that makes swastikas out of pylons in the middle of the map? Or types something in chat.. xD
