Absolutely nothing will happen. There have been many many different prophesies stating that 'Oh, the world is going to end on X date.' Guess what? We are still here. I know that 2012 is just going to be another Y2K. As in, nothing happened at all.

Ok there is no way that global warming isn't real. All scientific evidence done by independent researchers points to the fact that this isn't a natural cycle, and is in fact caused by humans. That being said, I'm not really frightened by it.

Not a natural cycle. Then what are all the graphs and computer animations shown in books and TV shows on history and National Geographic that show the earth's temperature over thousands of years that say differently?

the ice in antarctic is the real chart. the ice there records the temp. at each snow fall, there in the ice we see that the history of the global temp. was never as high as it is now, go back before a few ice ages and the temp. was less than half of what it is now and that was not during an ice age. i cant say that we humans are the cause of global warming but something is not natural at the moment, if the global temp. continues to go up than the antarctic and greenland will melt causing the ocean levels to go up more than 50 feet, if that happens than say good bye to the sourthern half of Florida, say good bye to the spot where the twin towers stood, hell, hundreds of millions will have to move. but what will most likely happen is that the ocean current will stop causing an ice age that will cause more problems than we can handle.

im not sure the exact numbers but i do know that if greenland and the west shelf of antarctic melted the ocean levels will raise at least 40 feet.

And 40 feet is a huge difference, too. Even the slightest upset in the water levels, even about 1 or 2 feet, will severely damage an ecosystem. 40 feet may be enough to completely destroy the ecosystem and create a new one.

40 feet would completely cause Louisiana to be under water, many parts of Florida marsh would be ocean ecosystem, and many cities on the coasts of all contries would be under water. Many areas of fresh water would be contaminated with salt water.

I'm lucky I live in a relatively high elevation. I won't have to worry about flooding at all. Earthquakes on the other hand...

    Where do you live?

Even if you live on high ground. You'll still be affected by whatever else high water levels cause. Like lowered global temperatures and water contamination.

and windy weather and sand to build cool sand castles and burying people in. All that salt water with large waves that are great to ride on.

I live in California, in the Bay Area, so even if it is a beach property, it wouldn't be all that sun-drenched glory beaches have in Hawaii or the Caribbean.

Oh well, beaches are still fun. Anyone ever been to a beach covered in rocks instead of sand? I went to one when I lived in Europe

Yea...I live in good ol' Cali-forn-eye-ay myself. Even if it isn't the sun drenched weather...you could always sell it for a bajillion dollars and go chill on an island that hasn't been swallowed by the sea :)

Wait...California's beaches are covered in rocks? I though it was sand, like the vast majority of beaches.

Some are rocky, some are sandy. It's not really a huge tourist attraction up here, compared to the beaches down in southern California, but it's pretty scenic. If you've been to Half Moon Bay, man, that place is really scenic.
