You cannot create your own fate. Fate is all about predetermination, destiny, inevitability, what must be, etc. You can't create it. If it does exist, then there is nothing that can be done to stop it, not even freewill because your choices would be determined by your fate. Either fate exists or freewill exists. You can't have both.
    About LordKerwyn's comment:
He said that those who do believe in free will are deluded. We believe in free will. He knows we believe in free will. Therefore according to him we're deluded.
I've been arguing that religious people are incorrect in their beliefs. I know that you have these beliefs. Therefore, according to me, you believe in the wrong beliefs.
Also, you've been arguing that people who aren't Christian are incorrect in their beliefs (I know you aren't trying to convert anyone or anything, but you've been arguing that you're beliefs are right, meaning that other's must be wrong). You know that I am not a Christian. Therefore according to you, I believe in the wrong beliefs.
All of these examples are not attacks. They're just opinions or statements. A lot of the things said might be viewed as unfriendly but that doesn't mean that they're said to attack nor offend. He has his views, you have your views and I have my views. We've all stated our views, but that doesn't mean that we're trying to get underneath everyone else's skin. No-one can try to drown out his views by saying that it's offensive, while continuing to argue their own views.

Just to stop this before it gets to far. First I don't neccessarily believe what I just said I am just kinda playing devil's advequete for a belief I find interesting. Also I personally have been watching this thread because I find the debate to be interesting and so no one insults anyone else, wouldn't it be ironic if I am the one that started that? For the record the deluded comment was not meant as an attack on anyone, it was more just part of the rhetoric of my post. Sorry for that.

P.S. I have a much more in depth response to your guy's points and when I get a chance ill post it.

Itz, here is the fact. I said that I had used the term "fate" in a loose and different way than you used it. To clarify the word I should use is most definitely not fate by your definition. I suppose to put it simply I should have just used something closer to "life", or future. As in with our freewill we decide our future. There are no more misconceptions yes?

    @Lord

Thanks for your honesty and apology, I myself am sorry for perhaps overreacting. I would gladly like to hear your input as well. As long as you can support it that is :D

The reason I brought up the fate topic, was that I thought Chrsitians were supposed to believe in fate. Not a close approximation to fate, but 100% pure-breed old fashioned fate. If Christians are to believe in fate, actual fate, how can you think that we have freewill?

ok I'm a atheist but i just remembered something.

didn't it stand somewhere that god created man with freewill, and therefore fate cannot exist?

From what I've learnt from a lot of religious threads in forums, seeing as that contradicts itself, most Christians would either say 'it's not supposed to be taken literally' or 'it can because god is omnipotent'.

God created freewill and that is a fact of our belief. I think your mixing this up with some of our other beliefs, because we also believe that everything happens for a reason. That isn't fate but it could be possibly misinterpreted as such.

Those who deny the existence of God are disillusioned by pride, and do not understand God. There is nothing more powerful, more wise, more loving, more compationate, more understanding, more knowledgable then the spirit of God. The god of love, the origin of every faith, the essence of love and understanding. He is meant to set us free, not enslave us. Our pride, our hatred, our anger, our regret, our misunderstanding, our disillusionment, our selfishness is what enslaves us. If we accept it in our hearts to embrace the spirit of God we will be set free from this material world. God lives through us all, and speaks through us, only the truth in his words can light the darkness that consumes our heart. We are born a nature of evil, but God has given us a free will, a strong soul, so we may choose to direct our path from a doomed existence and follow eternal life. Though I am born of this world too, I believe in this and I one day hope I can have the strength to embrace God's spirit in me.

God of the bible, God of love, THE God. I thought I answered that one already several times.

The god of the Bible is the Christian god. Which type are you? Catholic? Protestant? Just saying 'THE god' doesn't answer anything.

Well from an Athiest point of view if at the end you realize there is no god and there is no heaven or hell then you find that all those sundays you gave up all those moments you lost because you went to church or did something for god were all for nothing you realize you wasted so much time that could have been spent doing things you love or doing people you love or having fun with people you have some care in your heart for. Point is there is a loss at both ends of opinions either you worship god and be on the safe side and loose time. Or you be an athiest and risk being wrong and go to hell for eternity.

Haha, I bet you'll just sit there waiting for me to slip up, and when I do you'll type some two page post on how I'm wrong... (At least that's what I'd do in your situation :p)

Hehe looks like you caught me, but hey I got no reason to argue with this guy and we pretty much covered ours ten times over so I have nothing better to do. Besides I enjoying reading through your reasoning, it makes life interesting.

The God of the bible is the true God, the essence of love and compassion. And I have never been to church, I follow God not man. There are plenty of good churches to go to with ministers who can rightly preach the word and heal the dishearted, but even men of God are still born of this world and are just as likely to succumb to pride as anyone else and tend to preach their word and not Gods. God is here to help and will set you free, all he asks is to believe. He understands you therefor he can forgive you, and knows that when man must follow a law they will tend to break it, and would like us moral and ethical under grace and not law because it will help us in the end otherwise we will destroy our lives.

Nothing you do to help God is wasteful since helping God you help yourself. Alot of people like to argue about how it is stupid for human beings to kill each other for religion. Well any true believer will tell you the same thing. It is redudant to fight in the name of God since God wants us to be together in harmony whether you are a buddhist, christian, hindu, jew it does not matter.

First off, you didn't answer my question, you just rambled on on a tangent.
Secondly, Blackskies was saying that if god doesn't exist, which Atheists believe is true just as much as you believe god exists, then that time would have been wasted because it achieved nothing. Do not respond to this by saying 'time spent worshiping god doesn't achieve nothing' or whatever, because we're talking hypothetically here. That's not to say that any discussion about religion isn't hypothetical.
