    To sustain man.

Only humans were made in God's likeness and image so I suppose humans are given a soul because it has a likeness to God.

So animals are needed to sustain mankind. Isn't sustaining the image of god enough for them to deserve a place in the afterlife?

Why would they need/want a place in afterlife?

For the same reason that we need/want a place in the afterlife.

I don't think animals are aware of concepts such as God or afterlife at all

Well to answer the question about the roman gods. I worship more along the lines of the Greek mythology but I also mix it with romans. Its kind of like through test and error you find out which way to worship each individual god until the one that you think defines your life is discovered then you kinda stick with it. But its mainly a mix of both. I just used the term romans because their gods are more easily recognizeable. I don't worship Julius Caesar though i doubt he was ever a god. Alot of roman gods are made up by politicians from that era who simply wanted to make relatives or other people seem immortal.

God should have made them know about it. They're keeping us alive and it's not like they're all clones or something. They deserve a spot in heaven just as much as, if not more than, Christians do.
@ Blackskies. Good answer. I guess that they're pretty much the same, in essence. And seeing as more people know about the Roman gods more that the Greek ones, it's only logical.

Listen God created animals to sustain the man in not only food but companionship as well, likewise as dominating over animals man must nourish the animals. God is the only being than can decide which of his creations deserve what. It really makes sense that God would give man the right to enter into heaven with him since man is in God's image.

Animals are below that of man yet man must care for the animals. Its supposed to represent the relationship between God and man. Man has dominance over the animals just as God has dominance over man.

It pretty much proves it. Humans are animals- animals don't have beliefs and afterlife- Religion is all only human imagination.

Well I would like to see the logic for that conclusion, did you just skip over all the posts I wrote on this page?

If we assume that evolution did take place and at some point in time God gave humans souls separating them from other animals, don's point still stands.

Quoting the Bible doesn't disprove GM_k's logic. It only answers my questions on what the Christian attitude towards animals is. I happen to agree strongly with GM_k.
Also, evolution doesn't have much to do with this.

Nope, I don't see how evolution got in here.

Anyway I suppose it really comes down to how one defines an animal.

In this case, I'm referring to any, and every, living thing that is not a human. However the proper definition of an animal would actually include humans.

So plants are animals too? ;)

About the evolution thing... dunno how it got there, I'm sure it seemed perfectly logical at 10pm

Ok then, if you want to get pedantic, so be it!
    Animal. n. pl 'animals'.
In scientific usage, a multicellular organism that is usually mobile, whose cells are not encased in a rigid cell wall and which derives energy solely from the consumption of other organisms.
But on the topic of plants, if they don't have souls, does that mean that heaven is completely devoid of any plant-life?

I doubt there is any plant life, but then again I couldn't even begin t image what heaven would look like so your asking the wrong person.

No plants, no wild animals and no pets. This isn't really looking like a heaven to me. I mean, I know people say all this stuff like heaven is perfect and if you're in the presence of god then you can't feel any grief or sadness, but this is a contradiction. If something is perfect, then nothing can make it better. Having animals and, to a lesser extent, plants would most definitely not make it worse, so it can only improve it. If there are no animals in heaven then there is something that can be done to improve it, meaning that it cannot be perfect.
At least hell has goatmen, they're half an animal.

    You're assuming too much here.
We can't possibly know if there are plants/animals/we in Heaven.

Besides, there was Garden of Eden to begin with, so I think plantlife is quite likely

Itz you have to remember Christians believe that being in the loving presence of God is perfect. Being perfect it has no room for improvement, and just because having animals wouldn't create a negative effect it doesn't prove that it wouldn't be perfect without them.

Just because you think something couldn't be bad for heaven doesn't mean that without the said something heaven is imperfect. And it especially doesn't mean that absence of animals would make it perfect.

If you had the most perfect french fry in the world and ate it, it would taste perfect. But if you had had a pile of ketchup you could have dipped it in to make it better and you didn't dip it, that doesn't take away the fact that the french fry was the most perfect in the world.
This is assuming you like ketchup and fries but you get my point right?

Anyway, just because animals don't have souls doesn't mean that God can't have animals in heaven, or plants for that matter. I mean in all reality God could do whatever the hell he wants in heaven so I could have less of a clue as to what heaven is like. All I know is that heaven is perfect.
