24 hour news needs to fill up space with something.

Everyone is fed up with hearing about the ups and downs of the economy... and god it feels like years since we heared about that.

As a taxi driver taking people from everywhere around the world serving from the national airport of the Capital of Europe, I am now exposed to any threat from the passenger. But I am okay right now. I am not sick yet.

Is it just me, or is this just Mexico's year to be the worst place in the world?

I mean, first we have drug cartels that all of a sudden become big news, even though they've been around for years, we have swine flu, and on top of that, there was an earthquake in Mexico City.

The way this is going, I predict that a Revolution happens and zombies rise.

Maybe as in the new Metellica video?

Now they -official government people- confirmed that a 3 year old boy in the Netherlands somehow got it. Scary how fast this spreads.

Swine Flu is now at lvl 5 with over 2.5k reported cases worldwide and seen in 9 countries.

I still think the news/gov may be over reacting a bit, Texas and Kansas have canceled all high school sports events until the issue can be resolved and many schools in southern states have closed until early-mid May.

Some countries are closing thier borders, with many others ceasing flights to Mexico.

Pretty logical. People will go crazy when this reaches stage 6, better contain the madness. More people would die at the borders for walking and driving over each other, then the flu itself could. Mass hysteria is way more deadly. :/

Yeah I know that the news here in America was talking about that the Swine Flue took it's first victim here, some baby in Texas. Also I read how in Egypt, because of the world swine in swine flu, they went out and slaughtered, I think it was 30,000 pigs.

Yep....all this over a flu that only slightly makes your sneezes hurt more.

Honestly, it's kind of a joke around here where I live, just north of LA. Someone was getting tested one town over, no one cares. No schools get closed, no businesses closed, etc. My area, from what I know, has mostly accepted the "Eh, if it happens, it happens" approach. Quite honestly, I like that one better than panicking.

And the little baby that died was actually a Mexican baby whose parents crossed the border for better medical treatment.

    i has bacon lung

This snoutbreak of bacon lung is a Hamdemic, the hogbenger of the Aporkalypse. There's no use swining about it, just sty clean and pay no attention to the media, all they do is wallow while the virus hogs the headlines.

I think that's all the puns I could come up with.

    I'm epig.

Lol, ijffdrie activating the spam alert. ;)

But seriously: only a single person outside Mexico died, and that was in America. It sucks for those people, but how bad can it all become? It looks like the WHO has it under control already.

Hmm one died outside Mexico.... but I got a question for you, is it me or this media coverage of this issue is pretty large because it's near America or happen in North America? I don't see any big coverage on SARS issue 7 years ago. Maybe because I'm young and didn't get any attention in the issue.
But for Swine flu, I see it is deadly virus since SARS epidemic. All my thought are thinking about how the government handling in this issue and try to solve it on their own. but I really think that the border are close and all the airport shut down to avoid or stop spreading across the world. My condolences to all the deceases family.

wait, there are over 2500 people outside of mexico who have it and one 7 year old died?

that means that this thing is about as deadly as normal flu.
