Alright, what I'm looking for mostly is the correct amount of SCVs that I need. I never had a problem with rushes when i play the Toss cuz Zealots can handle pretty much any other early rush except other zealots, and by the time they got enough zealots to rush, I'll most likely have dragoons up.

eh, i like rushes. They're very strategic to do them and it makes you have to respond. also gives great games.

I woud have to disagree as well. wtf would zerg do against MS/Reavers/temps and all the godly tech protoss/terran have without rushing?

And yes there will be a matching system although the one in warcraft was  :bad:

and ultralisks were weak in sc thats why nobody really used them.

just get better micro and some early D.

Ultras own marines and firebats. A bunker is great, but to fight Ultras you need Goliaths. then you send in lurkers and the Goliaths have trouble. Zerglings with adrenal glands own terran, specially if you send in the Defiler's orange cloud. Ultras also get pretty well with that cloud. It only doesn't work with protoss because Dark templars and Archons own zergs inside the clouds. Reavers' scarabs too. But the cloud and Ultras were great against terrans. No air could hit it, and only firebats and STs could. But they were easily killed. ;-)

EDIT: Ultras were only misused for ppl who didn't know defilers skills. ;-) Or didn't used their armor to the top. Ultras are nearly imortal to units besides BCs, spider mines, STs (which usually misses them if they are not currently stoped) and Goliaths.

rush divides players into good skills and bad skills
no rush there is no point of the whole game
because everyone can battle when the base is fully defenced
rush would prove ur skills against:
APM, groups attack, moving SCV skills``````````````````
    fast rushes are:
SCV rush zerglings rush zealot rush marine rush bunker rush marine-medic rush`````
some rush are not kuick some are tech rushes to like:
tank rush(i like this best) vulture rush tank-dropship raiding base rush high ground tank rush
clocked rush(such as dark templear rush) scrabe(is that spelling right???) rush mutralist rush`````````````````

all the important rush is listed above i recommand u tank vulture rush(thats what famous player SLaYer BoXer do)
zergs would concentrate on fast rush(if it dosnt looks right, move on to mutralist rush) protoss and terran can do all rushes and its very powerful
clocked rush would take out other protoss player out quickly```````````````that's all i can say
if somebody dosn't agree with me or has other powerful rushes contact my e mail
oh yeah there is zergling- Ultras rush thats good for rading tanks upgrade speed first before doing this just put 3 or 4 ultra in the front and lots of zerling in the back

yah and thats why there are no bc, ultralisk, carriers, archons in most of the games =\

important as it is, but rushes takes away the overall gameplay involvement of the whole starcraft things (units and abilities, max cap etc) which i know when USED(many units) WILL ADD UP MORE COMPLEX STRATEGY(yes including a LOT of micro) AND FUN!

hhmm.. im sure starcraft 2 will be different in terms of countering rush and USING ALL OR MOST OF THE UNITS as possible, not only basic tier 1 and tier 2 units. yeah! or else...

In Soviet Russia, Rushes hate you! Haha! I love that line... you know... the Soviet Russia one...

Rushes are the most important and exciting factor in the StarCraft world! Look at most Pro Replays and you'll see them winning in almost no time, and still the crowd is involved and excited! Take for example, Boxer's SCV Rush... Now that was some crazy s^$t! If rushes were non-existant, we would be seeing some massive turtling and boring macro games. *Yawn* I am getting tired and bored of talking about macr......ZzzZzZzzzzZzzZ.

but how about the bc, thors, carriers, archons and others.. =\

are they just good for random with rules games. only for pub and "friends" games. such a waste.

come on starcraft2, i know you will do something about this problem!

thats why BASE DEFENSES SHOULD BE BUFF UP, GIVE CANON TURRETS SUNKEN ETC SOME EXTRA LIFE AND FIRE POWER to solve this. ;D

yippeee im a hero now! :)

    no problem.

    yah noob azn. lol

hhmm... im not noob at all. anyway i just dont like seeing unequaled skilled players fighting each other. the more advance player will just use cheap bunker rush at the poor noob easily without even using other units for example. =/

ok just FIX BATTLE NET for starcraft 2. and do some new CUSTOMIZE BATTLE SETTING or something to it 8)

Of course there will be games that include higher tier units, there will be scenarios were players are equally skilled and cannot penetrate one another's defenses and must resort to higher and more advanced units. Also, I am betting that Zero Clutter and Fastest Money Maps will make a return to StarCraft 2 with their No Rush 30 Minutes and the like, which means people will be aiming straight for the goodies.

If Blizzard were to give base defenses an extra boost in hit points and damage, that would throw off the game in all its entirety. This would practically force any body to turtle up and tech high, which renders low tier units useless. We might as well get rid of the Barracks, Gateway, and Spawning Pools.

That's not very fun when you know for a fact that you could have taken your opponent down faster. People are not patient (seriously...) and not very many would want to play a long game, which results in them turning to the rush tactics. I, for one, would not sit down just to play with BattleCruisers and Colossi when Marines and Zealots will do just fine.

Oh! Before I forget! Congratulations :)

Zeratul arent you talking about a rule thats already implemented? Or am I thinking of a diff RTS? Isnt there a feature you can choose that says "No war before so and so minutes"?

Oh damn. Wait thats AoE and RoN.

Uhm. That would be a good online feature, but eliminating rushes in general is a little silly. Rushes are a lot like headshots. Those who can do it, will. Those who cant, complain.

"option 5 ALL workers can HIDE inside the nexus, command center, and hatch. why did they only applied this for the terrans? and why only 5?"

because in the late 20th/early 21st century, the terrans had a video game called Age of Empires which allowed you to "barracks" units inside a castle or town hall. The Terrans looked into their collective past and figured out how to use this in their campaigns against all alien invaders. The Protoss and Zerg, having never played Age of Empires, cannot do this.

Rushes take you by surprise at first. Than you learn how to beat them. Heck, my favorite strategy was to attack right after a rush. It was a dumb tactic, but no one ever expected it. Most people became much more cautious after that (I manage to kill a some workers before anything resembling a defense shows up). If your very lucky, they won't have any units to guard with.

lol. uhm, no my idea is just a little hp increase for the canons etc. just too take away the chance of being defeated by early rushes and cheap shots even by only having a few defensive structures (lets say 4-6 canons). so basically adds up more strategy, if your opponent keeps on building base defenses(canons) then might as well build higher tech units. but ofcourse your opponent may not build more canons and just add up his units so then you might as well stick with your basic units(zealots, dragoons etc.) and mass them and continue attacking on the enemy base. anything and many thing can happen if only base defenses are stronger.

    and thanks.

no its not. you can but you need to chat with your opponent first telling them rules.

my idea is new. there would be a different kind of setting for the game, if you choose no rules then no rules.
if you choose with rules. then there are options to choose from. (<-options on my first post))

this extremely ruins the usefullness of the dropship/overlord/shuttle becuase you're going to have to drop outside of the base, which isn't too useful. Also, there would be not much use for the tier 1 units at all. Archons are pretty comon though, i get them when my ht's are depleted.

ok i had enough of this. lol

i admit that im wrong. but anyway i just like the idea of having HUGE battles INVOLVING most of the units and abilities in all or most starcraft games (pub or real pro games). thats it. =)

anyway im 90 % sure starcraft 2 will be different. battlecruisers are not useless now, you can mass them now and use plasma torpedo on hordes of hydras unlike before. cheap shots? planet fortress can handle that as well as the radar dome etc. rush mass mutas? overload will kill them! yes starcraft 2 will be different and im counting on it. rush and cheap shots will not be easy. =)

You will only be limited to low tier units if you don't know how to beat rushes. And rushes are essential for making enemies take a certain path to begin with, and not a shortcut to surprise you: every protoss needs Photon cannons, every Zerg needs to choose their way early on and perhaps build a second hatchery right from start, and every terran need to have bunkers in their bases.

It's not like the good games are faster. Good games are longer, and take every unit the game has to offer, because the players won't fall for cheap tricks, they have to think and create strategies. There's a good counter to every single rush (ever since Starcraft 1, my son), so there's no use complaining about them. >:)

Wouldn't it be sort of hard to do a rush 12 minutes before the game starts anyway? :p  8) ;)

But, anyway, there are easy ways to defeat rushes. The number one thing you can do to prevent cannon rushes, for instance, is build a pylon/creep colony/supply depot to the side of your main building in the place where you think a cannon rush would be the most likely to appear. Bam. They won't cannon rush you because there isn't a place they can build that you can't see.
