Asian Cultures and Stuff/South Korea - Country Profile

man I wish I was back in Ann Arbor. I'm applying to med school there but its gonna be a long shot cause its a great med school. Hopefully my in-state ties would keep me in for the running. Out of state applicants usually have a disadvantage for state schools.

There's prolly a lot more asians in this site than we all think.

 

I'm not Asian but I hang out with Asians at school

well unless you consider Iranian Asian

When I was a kid, on standardized tests, I always used to fill in "Asian" under the ethnicity because Iran is in Asia

But now I put "Other"

 

Hahaha! At least a good 60% of my friends and closest friends are asian in one way or another

Hehe, the only ethnicity that I could ever think of to put "other" under was Indian...other than that I couldn't think of one

 

FlyingTiger, do you currently reside in Michigan? Er where are ya if not? I'm currently in Texas now for the summer but am heading back to AA at the end of the month. I got hammered by Out of state tuition myself. Man am I gonna have a great time paying back loans after graduation

Oh, and back to topic: I'm full Chinese from Beijing. Came to the states when I was six. My gf 'n friends are actually mostly all white... dunno how that happened...

 

I'm Korean by blood, born in Seoul, Korea. But I went to Taiwan when I was three and grew up there, and came to the state when I was 13.  So I'm also fluent in Mandarin Chinese as well as Korean, English is my third language.  I dip my feet in all three cultures, Korean, Chinese, and American.

Taiwanese culture used to have the biggest influence on me but since I'm now 27 and have live over half of my entire life in the states, American culture is just as big.  My family and most close friend are all Korean, so that one's always been major too.

I like the melting pot, lovely.

@Archlimit: No I live in CT now and go to UConn. I moved senior year of high school from Grand Rapids, MI (long long story) and I was gonna go to U of M too actually but my parents made me go to UConn cause it was a lot cheaper.

PS. I'm a HUGE Michigan fan and dislike people from Ohio especially those who go to tOSU. ^_^

@Millions: man I wish you good luck. I took it twice and getting my results on the 15th. Just remember to do tons of practice tests. The bio section will surprise you, the physical sciences will prolly be surprisingly easier and the verbal has long passages and sometimes vague questions. Hopefully the testing center is good for you cause my monitor was shifted to the left and they wouldn't let me get my minute back! Soooo pissed.

haha yea I dated white girls until now (I have an Indian gf hehe ^_^). I'm not a big fans of asian girls lol. They just remind me too much of my sisters ick. lol

 

thanks for the tips... yeah im actually taking test every day and hopefully my BS in bio will help me out on that section cool to see future med student playing sc lol i only know one other pre med student who plays sc that says alot especially since i feel like every student is a premed major at Rutgers. my gf also a premed and indian dislikes video games..... its a lonely world lol j/k

 

@ tiger, what if i were to tell you i live 20 miles from OSU and will probably end up going there? hmm?

haha jk, im going to avoid OSU as much as i can, probably gonna go to school in Oregon. you can dislike ohio as much as you like.

@millions: yea my indian gf doesn't like games either lol. aaaand I hope SC2 comes out before we start med school cause were not gonna have anytime to play it when the time comes ugh

 

yeah i know what ya mean i thought the same thing when they announced the game in may oh well they will release the game when its "done"

 

What I love the most is Asian food. Especially Chinese food. I haven't try much of Korean or Japanese food though, I'm definitely going to try them out sometime. Nikzad is right! The Vietnamese beef soup noodles are delicious, once I had an addiction to them where I always wanted to go and have it. And Chinese food is probably one of the most delicious food I've ever tried, and It's nice to see how many different variety there are.

i grew up on the border of Washington an Oregon. it rained a lot.

 

I've never tried Filipino food, but I really want to, I don't think I've ever seen a Filipino restaurant near where is live. I'll definitely try it if I can find one

Around where I live there's Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian and Singaporean reataurants. I've tried them all and I love them. My favourite is Thai because I like chilli. And lucky for me because I'm the only one in my family that doesn't have an allergy to MSG

 

oh? your family has allergy on MSG? how do that feel like?

if you want chili, you gotta try indian food. they're really unbearable!

okay, if you do wanna eat filipino food, try tasting "dinuguan" first.

 

Yeah some thai food is sometimes hot as hell at and im indian lol ..... have you guys ever eaten korean BBQ taste so good... I havent tried much fillipino food and i know alot of them but their baked goods are really good
