It's true though I don't exist. I have never actually posted on this site. I'm just a figment of your imagination, and let me tell you, your imagination scares me. This reminds me of a play I once watched. I can't remember the name of it. In the play there were these detectives looking at this case. You find out that the whole situation was just in the imagination of a man writing a story. Who turns out to be just in the imagination of two people talking. Who we then found out that didn't exist at all. But where just part of a story being written by just some random girl. I figured there was something up with the girl in the play because she was in every scene but never said anything until the end.

That proves nothing. I could easily write a computer program that tells me that.

I can draw too! *draws a rubber ducky* There is no way to prove that someone exists. It's all part of philosophy, like how do we know anything exists. The toilet I'm sitting on may not exist (I'm in a a hardware store right now). How do I know that hammer doesn't exist. Maybe the colors I see aren't the right colors. None of that can be proven.

What do you mean by "exist?" Starting from square one, the easiest thing that can be proven to exist is the individual doing the proof. I can prove I exist to myself because there has to be a myself to be doing the proving. As for proving my existence to those other than myself, what qualifications are there for existence?

I can be proven to be as existent in physical form as the computer you typed on by you seeing or otherwise physically interacting with me. If you reject my existence, you would have equal grounds for rejecting the existence of the rest of your environment. Basically, I can't prove I physically exist any more than I can prove that your environment does. Many people simply accept that the physical universe exists out of convenience or by definition*. If you are unwilling to accept that the physical universe exists then may I please have all of your probably nonexistent currency and valuables? After all, you have "nothing" to lose! The fact that you won't isn't proof of the physical universe existing, it is simply proof that you think it exists.

Going further, proof of my being a conscious human being as opposed to a p-zombie is, at least in my opinion, much more difficult. How does one prove one has actual thoughts as opposed to just a "simulation" of thought? I don't have an answer to that because I don't think there is an answer. Following the offer at the end of that last paragraph, you are welcome to any souls or non-physically dependent minds I have with me. I will even make you a nice certificate!

To sum up, I don't think that existence can be proven because it is axiomatic, much like the foundations for mathematics. You can't prove that x=x is true for all values of x, it is simply accepted as an axiom. In the same way I accept, as an axiom, the existence of the physical universe because that is what I define existence to be.

*I personally think that existence is defined in terms of the physical environment, but that is a philosophical position that is not universally accepted, particularly among groups of thought such as solipsists and dualists.

Mining the required materials for electric cars causes even more damage than not having electric cars - VERY damaging materials required for the batteries.

Perhaps when the enviromental cost to make them is fixed and the profit margin for actually making them is higher we will see electric cars.

hmm, well, fenix, I can Think logically, you can't make a computer program do that...

...but it can write this text
but if I am a computer program, I exist, in the form of a program
and if I am a part of your imagination, I still exist in there
