Sadly, i can't play Patch 13...my desktop died today:(

I've got some thoughts anyways though....

Infestor -- the bloodlust ability is interesting, but it seems to only be useful on ultras or broodlords....it'd be nice if it affected units clustered in the space an ultra took up -- so a unit or units within a matrix size would get the benefit.

Ultra -- I pretty much gave up on using ultralisks when i realized that its size makes it nearly impossible to maneuver units around it (or it around units) or use effectively in someones base due to size.

I swore them off til blizz gave them the ability to walk over units or have units go under them. Then blizzard nerfed them. I don't think bloodlust would make much of a diff since they've lost some HP. They're so expensive that I didnt use them really unless i was assured a win. And even then, inability to move smoothly with the swarm or build in a reasonable amount of time made them not even worthwhile for the spectacle.

I din't use ultras before, and i certainly won't now.

The roach nerf (old news) is also kinda craptastic. For that amount of supply, i just go hydras instead. Roaches arent a great investment, and ultras are blargh. Which means that I exclusively use lings, Blings, and hydras.

Ahh well...at least we've got one good new ground unit!

    Patch 13 = EPIC FAIL

The only thing more epic than Dark Templars fighting hydralisks is the FAIL conducted by Blizzard with Patch 13. I realize this is only beta, but when are the "geniuses" at Blizzard going to realize they messed up a 10 year old project?

It's not just patch 13. The game is a huge let down. Maybe I am just pissed off that the beta has had more problems than the US economy, but the people at blizzard seemed to put more time into graphics than actual game play. What they're selling us is Starcraft 1.5, not 2!

It seems as though within the last 10 years, all of their creative people have died. I am sorry, but I have had better ideas in my sleep (and I'm not kidding). The patch does nothing to balance. Many units are utterly useless. The game messed up my sound card, has dropped me on multiple occasions, has worse lag than COD4 (which doesn't have dedicated servers), etc., etc.

If you don't want to hear me rant, I am sorry. I am just so frustrated that I had to type something somewhere.

BTW: A diamond is not a metal, so why is there a bronze, silver, gold, platinum league...then diamond? Either call it the Pro League, or perhaps even iridium/rhodium/mercury [mercury is even a planet!] EPIC EPIC FAIL BLIZZARD! It's almost as embarrassing as when Bieber walked into a door!

Well that was kind of a troll post. Yipes. I clearly don't think we've been playing the same game...

You need to keep in mind that this is a beta. This is definitely the most stable beta I've ever been involved in, with the exception perhaps of WarCraft III. There are bound to be driver issues with a game that hasn't been released.

Go back to the forums for other betas, such as Battlefield 2: Bad Company. There were like 60% of users for whom the beta didn't work for 6 weeks. I definitely think Blizzard has done a better job than that.

And I don't think your comment about graphics over gameplay is true at all. Most of us think the game is great with a few flaws that will (hopefully) be fixed.

I don't think that was s troll post more a post by someone who really did not stop to think before their fingers started typing.

But JonX does make a good point. This is only beta software. Betas are never perfect. But SC2 has had one of the best betas I've ever partaken in. And this is really SC2. Better graphocs, better game play, better bettle.net to use, better single player, better (or higher system requirements) etc etc then the first SC game.

Sure we can all agree balancing in SC2 at the moment if not the best but apart from that there is little else wrong with the game that needs a major fix. And the proof people think it is great to is the fact the collectors edition of SC2 in one month since it's offficial announcement is pretty much sold out everywhere.

Even with issues as bad as this, there are still people who figure out some way to have fun with it:

I actually think that people are "whining" so much over these problems because they do not see it as a beta in which Blizzard tries things on you, but more like a free game in which they can play for a limited amount of time.
Blizzard should not have started with a so complete and smooth beta, and now screw up, becuase really, you whine if you lose what you are used to, you are close to content if you get the same, and happy if you get more. Until you are used to that and want more again.
I am also angry that i drop due to "lost connection to server", but i woul not be specially angry if i not were used to always getting a fast, fair, smooth and enjoyable match.

Overlords / Overseers give supply. They don't cost. If an Overseer would cost for example 1 supply, then it is like he only gives 8 supply to you.

Me neither. It's the same as before. Even with that one stripe, two stripes, three stripes argument. I just don't get it :-D
Beeing upper silver before I am now upper gold. But who cares? I know gold is now the new silver ...

Even though I also think you are complaining too much (as it is in fact a BETA), I get some of your points. I played an alpha version of SC2 at the 2008 Games Convention in Leipzig (Germany). There were Protoss and Terrans already finished, Zerg missing. But as I remember, it was almost in the same state, as it is now. Great engine, nice working Terran and Protoss. The only changes I see since then are the Zerg and some balancing. Perhaps I do not remember right ... ;)

    First i was like :D
    Then i was like :(

It wouldn't let me join evolves games (Or any UMS maps for that matter)!!!

Though fairly easy placements got me into diamond lol.

The overseer thing with the infected terran is really strange in game... 125 energy to kill 3 workers...? Blizz hasn't even bothered to change the info card for the infestor to say its new ability. Has the TF2 team invaded blizz or something (I want hats in portraits >>)? Contamination is a very good ability however, perhaps too good atm especially against Toss.

When the final product of Starcraft 2 will be released on July the 27, what version will it be ? I mean there will be the latest patch like now the 13th ? Or are the DVDs already burnt ?

About patch 13 : I don't understand the infestation ability of the Overseer. What's the interest to infest, just for 30 seconds, enemy structures that can't produce units or upgrades ? Maybe it is interesting to infest the main building (CC, Hatchery, Nexus) but if you do it this means you have succeeded to reach this main structure, so this means you have already killed all enemy units and destroyed the surrounding structures.
And if you infest a CC in an expansion this will be useless cause there is already the main CC somewhere else.

I use infestation to shut down the military buildings, it gives you some time.

How the .... ? Why does it work over there and I get constantly kicked ALL THE TIME? :(

Now we have version 0.15.xyz (the last I can remember).

The "0" tells you, it's a Beta. And in there it's the 15th version / state. Not to be mixxed up with the fact that we jsut had patch 13. 13 patches do not necesserily lead to a version 0.13. The last number (xyz) tells you, which build this is. Considering the fact, that you don't know much about that theme and my english is just horrible, I think, it does not make much sense, if I try to explain this part (builds).

About the release: Of course the DVDs are not made. In fact the don't even get burned, they get pressed (at least that's the word, leo returns me for the German "gepresst"). :) And they will do that just in time. So, release is 27th of July, The DVDs need to be at Amaton, etc. on, let's say, 25th of July. Let's say they need three days to make all those DVDs, then they will start on July, 22th and not a day before. ;)

I hope, you understood a bit of what I was trying to explain.:confused::D

Just remember I remember Blizz said somewhere there will be a day zero patch. You will probably have to download a patch on retail release date after you install the game to play. This is probably cause Blizz will still be tweaking the game after all the discs have been shipped. And this allows Blizz more time to get the discs and stuff made and shipped to the stores.

Im still having issues with the game. I get a really high lag between commands and execution and then I start to get the countdown to disconnection, lose a few seconds, get back to game, and repeat.

Thank you for your explanations. :) My English is bad too. I'm a French speaker ;)
I think all the shops worldwide get the final product dics maybe 2 or 3 days before the release and put them in their stock. Count between 1 and 2 weeks before each shop gets the products (because of the huge logistic that needs). Remember transportation of the final product must wait that other products are tranported together. No logistic company will take only DVDs of Starcraft 2 ONLY. They need other products.
See for the French version for instance (full version, game and talks in French). I think the DVDs are burnt somewhere in France.
For the CD of Brood War I have it was burnt in the beginning of March 1999 and I bought it 2 weeks after.
Maybe the SC2 DVDs will be burnt worldwide in the beginning of the month of July and we'll get them on July 27.

packaging and shipping does take a while, though, so i expect them to actually "go gold" about 2-3 weeks before release. not to mention they need to build up inventory, and the presses can only stamp out DVDs so quickly.

Yeah, that sounds right. I just wanted to simplify it and therefore used shorter times and less explanation. ;)

But three weeks sounds possible. I had a lot of games, where I even had to download a patch on release day before my first game, because they had those three weeks so patch things, the "gold version" did not inherit. :)
