Like i said i understand your reasoning there is a larger gap between "guy in a cape" and batman than there seems to be between your and joneagle's answer. Also i am curious where does the answer come from? (assuming you got this from some sort of book)

Night's Watch is a f*cking organization from a fantasy novel. How in God's name am I supposed to know that off the top of my head? That requires prior knowledge... very SPECIFIC prior knowledge. You cannot base a riddle off that.

I don't care about the mins, but my answer is correct.

BTW, on the last riddle I indulged you by explaning the answer, but the answer was simple RAVEN.

@ Joneagle you do really need to coold off a little bit it is just a riddle but on theat same token there is a reason why i asked where the answer came from. ( and i agree with your answer)

@ hillz most riddles ( to my knowledge) have an answer thats obscure but obvious when said and the answeres are normally not perfect proper nouns. And even when they are they are generally really well known things and not obscure (atleast in my case) groups found in fantasy books because answers like that could be multiple groups with very different names that serve the same purpose. ( and i would find an example but im to lazy atm) Ultimately its up to the person giving out the prize but in my opinion its better to be more lenient with answers instead of being strict.

 

Lol Kerwyn, I'm not "mad" I'm just a little perturbed at the "stupidity" of saying that "night watchmen" is any different from "Night's Watch."

It's a little like a kindergardener telling you that you didn't "shoot" him with his imaginary gun because you missed.

Seeing as how the Lord of the Rings is mainstream literature and The Hobbit is regarded as a "classic."

Any well-read person has read that. The book you're talking about? I've read a great, great, GREAT number of books and I've never even heard of it. Perhaps I will give it a glance.

But that doesn't make your riddle any more logical. The fact of the matter is that I came with a hair's smidgeon of the complete, correct answer EXACTLY as you worded it, and yet you refused to acknowledge that I had the correct answer.

No matter what you say; night watchmen is the SAME DAMN thing as Night's Watch.

Heck, you could REPLACE one with the other.

I posted it first, and I posted it correctly. Nowhere in the rules did it say anything about it having to be a proper noun, nor anything about needing prior, SPECIFIC knowledge.

BTW, LotR would fall under "general" knowledge as it is mainstream.

 

Is it from the movie Blazing Saddles ? I watched it some time ago and I think that was in the movie.

You go to a bookstore and ask for LotR and see how fast you find the hobbit. Time yourself.

Then ask for your book. See how long it takes them to find THAT.

It's not mainstream literature. No English course would cover it. However, there ARE LotR books covered in literature classes.

 

you'll never find it covered ina lit class, though not for lack of quality, hehehe
