are you sure it's possible? there are 3! = 6 arrangement of hydralisks and 2 possible meanings of "hissing" and "spitting" so in total 12 possible scenarios, with 3 yes/no questions, you can distinguish between a maximum of 2^3 = 8 different scenarios...

Tommy always tells the Truth.
Lucas always Lies.
Rory is Random

It's definitely solvable, although my statement that there are multiple solutions may not be true... I've only been able to come across one, but I've been told that there are more.

Nevertheless, I do have one solid solution with me here. So possible, yes, figure-out-able... maybe not.


Haha yeah, at first I gave them random names (Blinky, Winky, and Fred) but then decided I should change them to something that you could associate with their states. Seemed like a nice thing to do.

you only asked to figure out which hydra is which but not what hiss and spit means
so you don't need to figure out what hiss or spit means, meaning you only need to figure out 1 from 6 possible scenarios, so mathematically it is solvable, but not knowing the meaning of hiss or spit certainly wouldn't help...

 

Exactly. You just need to call the Hydralisks by their proper names so that they won't kill you. Once you've got that figured out, you have all the time in the world to figure out what *Hiss* and *Spit* mean.

I'll give out hints every once in a while (not soon, I can tell you that) but I should point out that the hints I'm going to give will only steer you in the right direction, they won't be any new information, so don't count on them.

BnechbReaker's already got the right idea; think about what you need and what you don't. Take it step-by-step, and a little bit at a time.

i know who that Hydralisk is (sorry for double posting!!!!)

Its Rory, he is confused and he wants to know whats going on for he will come to you, while the others don't Tommy will not come and he would have done what he would have done for he is being trusty, furthermore Lucas will usually kill you when he comes to you but instead he does the same thing as Tommy for he is lying

Bizarro I think I have the answer to your riddle but first I need to know if I can ask one hydralisk about the other two. If I can than I have the answer. (I think). Oh and it is ok if I use the word always right? Sorry about all the editing and questions but I was just checking my answer so I looked back at your riddle. Is it three questions to one hydralisk or three questions spread out how you want as long as it is'nt being asked to the whole group at once?

 

From the sounds of it, having not read the riddle, this is the same thing as "Two guards are standing at a fork in the road, one road leads to happiness, one road leads to failure. You can ask one guard one question. One of the guard tells the truth one of the guards tells lies. And you do not know which one is which. Which road do you take?"

 

Its true the riddle is like that but with a complety random extra character and not knowing if they are even saying yes or not makes it quite a bit more difficult. Oh and just so I know are you posting that as a riddle to or just as a point?

Yeah protoss commander I don't really have much on an idea for your riddel but I'll say like a rumor.

1. The person who starts it doesn't need it.
2. The person who believes it is the *buyer*
3. The seller is the one that spreads it is the *seller* and they don't need it.
4. The person the rumor is about doesn't normally know about it and doesn't know who started it.

It's probably not your answer but it does kind of fit.
