If you pick a random disc and the face you see is black it is more likely that you picked the 2 black faced disc.  It is two times more likely that you picked the two black faced disc in fact.  This means there is a 2/3 chance that the disc will have a black back if it has a black front.

I'll elaborate on why this is true. If you draw the all black disc the odd that the face your are looking at is black is 1. If you draw the all white disc it is 0. If you draw the multi disc it is 1/2. While there is the same probability that you will draw the all black disc as it is that you will draw the multi disc the all black disc is twice as likely to have a black face showing. God damn, I hate conditional probability lol.

That's correct, did you answer this yourself or did you google it?

I answered it myself. I'm taking a probability class this semester and we did conditional probability not all that long ago. I'm just stupid I didn't realize it earlier.

i still dont see how its 2/3, cause in the riddle you already have a disk that have one black side ( the one you are looking at) and there are only two disks that have at least one black side. so it should be 50% not 2/3.

will you explan it a little more?

so you're in a propability class? No wonder you keep solving these logic erasing puzzles. I never plan on taking a probability class. My mind works on logic, not probabilities. I might as well give up on these since my mind cannot solve puzzles like this.

There are 3 blacks and 3 whites. You pull out a disc and see a black one. Now there are 3 blacks and one white. One black you are seeing. So there are two blacks and one white that you don't see, or 2/3 of the possible outcome on the back are blacks.

Probability is pure logic. Your mind works on common sense, which is a derivative of logic but not always accurate.

I'm closing the spot the difference riddle on monday. I'll put up a new (easier) one unless I get 2 good solutions or Jon wants the minerals back.

50% You could have the all black disk, and the back side would be black, or you could have the mixed disk and the back side is white.

Unless this is a trick question and "side" means something other than top and bottom.

Also, if somebody has already answered this correctly I'm sorry, but I was too lazy to read the posts after Z's.

    1. this is your private problem, no need to post about it
    2. obviously guesses mean the number of differences you have found. Don't you find it strange that no one else tried to guess a nice high number and find the differences after I've contacted them via PM? It's like asking me the number of differences before actually hunting them down. Plus, coincidentally you guessed exactly the number that someone else guessed. Hm hm.
    3. Rule #1 - To submit your solution, you need to post the number of differences you have found and nothing else! Do not post them to me in private messages! How's that for "being in the rules", huh?

    Spot the difference exercise 2

There are 6 differences between the two pictures and you must find all of them to claim the prize of 300 minerals. Only the first to post all 6 coordinates wins. No edits allowed.

If a difference is on a grid line or occupies more than 1 cell, It is enough to give the coordinates of one cell that has the difference in it.

    Happy searching :good:

D'oh. This is exactly the reason I made the first one hard. You didn't give others a chance ;D

    Congrats.
