Oh god, this could have like... eighty batrillion possible answers, depending on how imaginative tweak is.

    It looks like a +0
It could be read as (T of [O or 0])
    It's a brand of Calculator
    47, obviously.
It's always used to express a relationship
Letters can be added, subtracted, multiplied, and divided and it will still form another word
It's letters appear in all the words of basic operations except for "division." Addition, subtraction, multiplication, rotation, translation, etc.

I'm not expecting any of these to be right, but is there any one that's going in the right direction? I'm trying to determine how you're thinking here.

Sorry ssj :p. Here, have a cracker.

Eidt: let me express this more clearly. I like Bizzaro's answer, it's always used to express a relationship.

I like the It's always used to express a relationship personally

PS  I am stummped I don't know what Tweak is thinking about but Bizzaro's answer here looks promising to me.

Ok here's a guess, it isn't right but hell, why not

to looks kinda like t0 which is t naught. t naught is used for alot of things it is a very common variable in parametric equations and to represent a time value in physics. As in the initial time is often represented by t naught.

I doubt that is right but it is a guess and not a great one

'To' the power of something. As in four to the power of three is 64.

300 minerals and a  for this gem! No googling, or so help me god i'll castrate you with my teeth.

How do you make a number worth more or worth less without tampering with the number itself at all. IE. You cannot add to it, you cannot subtract from it, you cannot divide it, you cannot multiply it, you cannot write it smaller, or write it larger etc etc.

Switch the order of its digits? Or in the case of 6 and 9 flip them upside down?

Elaborate? And no you cannot flip them. You're tampering with the number as it is.

you can change the base of the number, for example:

100 in binary equal to 8 in decimal and 100 in hexadecimal is 256 in decimal. so you can increase the value of a number by increase it's base.

Change the unit of it, like millimetres to centimetres or the other way round.

Tell people that the number is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.

If only we knew the question

No. All the following answers tampered with the number itself or editted it in some form. It is just the number. It is not negative/postive, and it is only expressed as a number not in currency or differing forms of equations. I'll give this riddle one more day before I reveal the answer. It's pretty hard, but when I say it you'll say "Damnit Hadean, you're sneaky.".

compare it to another number, and it will be relatively more or less

Well since all the other answers were wrong I'll try to rephrase my answer in a more serious manner and see if that works.

Since you cannot alter the value of the number change the numbers signifigance without applying any sort of unit to it.

For example, if someone feels the number 7 is lucky that number is worth more than the number 8 or 25.

There are thousands of contexts in which you could place a number and make it special.  You aren't tampering with the actual value of the number but its meaning.

Edit: I like Hillzagold's answer above me. It is simpler

Hillz is the correct answer. Godamnit. I suspect googs with how calm and collected that answer was but you deserve it. Not sure why, but you do.

Through comparison you can make any number worth less or worth more. Compare 5 to 7 for example. The five is worth less than the seven and the seven is worth more than the five without actually tampering with either number. Congrats Hillz.
