Yes. There are those certain series, that have a very low budget, or where the studio just doesn't put any effort into it, believing they can make the same amount of money for half the work. Then, there are series like Neon Genesis Evangelion, or movies by such masters as Miyazki. Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. Jin-Roh and Grave of the Fireflies are also examples of high quality, Anime films, that carry a moving message, unlike garbage such as Naruto.

If that's your idea of something that's well drawn and well animated, then your interest in anime suddenly appears justified. :p

Also, weren't you trying to say that anime wasn't a cartoon in some other thread? What, are you joking?

No. I am not joking. There is a difference between a child's Cartoon, and an Anime series. Just because it's done with ink, upon paper, and animated, does not classify it as a Cartoon. Your opinion may differ, but I consider Cartoons to being something more akin to the Flintstones, something for children to watch and enjoy. You wouldn't see Ghost In The Shell appearing in the kid's section at a Movie Store, now, would you?

Since when did a cartoon have to be for kids? What about Family Guy and American Dad? They're actually designed to be cartoons for adults as well. 'Cartoon' doesn't define an age group, it defines how it's made, just like CGI and whatever it's called when they just film actors. Anime's just a different style of cartoon, just like how American Dad's done in a different style to Ren and Stimpy. So, yes, anime might not be a kid's cartoon, though a lot are, but it is still a cartoon.
