Well i doubt any story on the media short of something famous bursting into flames and you saving everyone on a single heroic and stupidly courageous act would get you in the news for a whole week. Because society today bashes heroes and makes villains.

    Like the old saying.

Someone tells the story of how a man died.
And another person tells of the same man. But he says of how he lived.

How or when someone dies is of little consequence. (Unless you are painter cause their work is only valuable post death). If you have done a heroic deed of lived a heroic life it'll be discussed and honoured whetyher you are alive or not.

I guess I'd rather be up and about (not old in ability) and doing good (possibly heroic) when or right before I die, so my choice is hero. I don't like the idea of sitting in a nursing home waiting to die. What's the point in me living longer if it isn't as meaningful to me?

I'd rather live happily and peacefully than dying a hero and as a famous quote says "The immature man wants to be a hero and save the world while the mature man wants to live happily and humbly."

I would have to agree with that statement. I could careless to be remembered as some legendary hero or great man. Whats the point all does is feed your ego unless your doing the action for a reason you really care about other than just to become a hero. I'd rather live to my fullest as long as I can and enjoy life.

I'd gladly die if it was worth something like planetary evolution, raising awareness, saving the planet from Human destruction etc.
