From what I know its just legs. The Pedipalps/claws are counted separately.

Ask a biologist why that is

Same. Spiders are the only creeepy crawlies that I can't handle. Personally, I would prefer being near a bee's nest (as long as it isn't the kiler bees) then spiders, since I can handle bees being around me.

I also don't lik wasps because of an incedent I had with them as a child, but I still prefer them over spiders.

I got those skinny daddy long legs everywhere, they don't bother me even tho they are getting bigger due to the climate change.

But those black hairy ones have always freaked me out, and they have also gone twice as big I swear this one was the same size as a tennis ball legs included, sent shivers down my spine. And to think they are gonna get bigger this summer :[

But if you wanna get rid of a spider simply spray it with some form of surface cleaner like Dettol.

And speaking of summer I really hate when a Hover Fly unexpectedly flys into my ear, people think I'm crazy the way I react.

That brown one doesn't even look scary. Seeing small black ones, however, gives me a strange feeling even though I like spiders. I haven't killed any since I've come to my senses through learning about them (I was mad about everything that moved when I was smaller) which is about 8 years now and I'm actually proud of not being an ignorant fool who kills every non-domestic animal that happens to come inside. Now wasps (=hornet?) are a different thing. They're just cheeky, always hungry and generally a pain in the arse, especially when you're eating out in the open.

I've seen a documentary on some guy who treated people with all kinds of fears but here are a few hints to everyone afraid of spiders:
-they're just as scared as you, if not more
-taking the average spider, even if it manages to bite you, a scratch from a thorn would cause more damage
-if you don't give it a reason to attack, it won't - that takes energy and generally puts it in danger so it'll try to avoid it first and attack as a last resort

ps I didn't know tarantulas were not spiders, interesting, that...
pps they're innocent, please don't harm them otherwise YOU'LL BURN IN HELL thank you :)

I have listened to all those reasons many times, and it barely helps. I can stand some spiders, but overall, they still give me the creeps. I think my dad is the only on in my family not afraid of spiders. As long as they are at least 5 feet away from me, or behind glass/plastic/etc. it doesn't bother me. However, if one decided to dangle down from the ceiling 2 inches in front of my face, no mercy!

btw, I like the new addition to your sig kuvasz, poor GM, lol.

OMG praying mantids (sp?) are awesome. I used to keep 2 in a huge box and care for them. They are absolutely fascinating up close, especially when they're hunting. They eat anything that moves, including spiders so even you should love 'em ;)

I've seen pray mantises around.  I don't see them often then again I don't really look for them either.

I do not like spiders.  I don't really mind them if they are outside, and I don't even mind them that much in the house, I just don't like it when they are on the ceiling above my bed...

The bug I really hate are June bugs.  Those damn thing buzz around and fly into you.  Oh I cannot stand those things.

I've never had problems with roaches before.  I've only rarely ever seen them and never at my own home.  The problem we have are bats.  I'm not afraid of bats but it really is rather distracting having one flying around the inside of your house.

Oh and you've got to love my new name color.

You know you swallow an average of fifteen spiders a year?
