Money maps are bad for balanced competitive play, which is why you had the problems where only a few units are valid in those types of maps.

Doesn't matter though, because SC2 won't have that problem.. it will seperate ladder play from custom map play. So if you want to play rated games you'll play only on heavily tested/balanced/legitamate maps. I think if you've ever played WC3 you'd get my drift. If you want to play money maps, custom games are designed for that and should suit that purpose perfectly.

Edited out quotes. Please read the forum rules and refrain from quoting unnecessarily.

Yeah, they mentioned in a Q&A that the SC2 map editor is capable of producing a "DOTA" map.. with heroes/items/experience/lvling..etc.

I hate money maps as well. Makes it impossible to find ANY decent games on BNET. It's like 99% of all maps are played on money maps, which deprive the game of everything that makes Starcraft a great game. Money map unit spam is the worst!!

Thats why they will hopefully have special BNET filters that prevent money maps from appearing on your list.

Well Money maps are hated because of the use and how often they are used but remember they are also very fun., it also depends which money map you are talking about. theres the Money map, and then theres they Money money map (Unlimited) which is quite boring unless your having fun massing/testing. I say just keep it cool with the Money maps (Ex. Big Game hunters).

Money maps defeats the purpose of expanding!!
If your main base is down, its game over..
    Seriously, discourage the money maps.

Well BGH is different I ran out of minerals there :D it was really bad too, so I learned that expanding is the best. I discourage Fastest the most.

Money maps = no strategy, whatsoever. I like the directions they are taking with starcraft II in regards to terrain and effected strategy. Ramps, distances between starting points, rush potential, etc. are all map strategic points. They were there in starcraft, they'll likely be there in starcraft II blizzard stock maps.

The yellow/high yield minerals are a nice addition. I can't wait to try out the different strategies that it will offer for 1v1's and 2v2's.

money maps are all about making 4-10 barracks/factories/whatsoever, clickclickclickclickclickclick on the units, have 654687321 marines or goliaths or whatsoever, and send all of them attack+move in the other corner of the map, and clickclickclickclick again like hell in the units-making buildings to prepare your next group, and send them in another corner.

    +1

    unfortunately.

If Blizzard does a good job with the units concepts, there will not be any problem with the marines, or any other units, let's just say it will be about playing the right maps with the right people. Personnally, like in Warcraft III, I think I will only play ladder games (with official maps and ranked players).

I use reavers all the time as Protoss. If you mix up Zealots with Dragoons backing them up, and have High Templars using Psi Storm and Archons killing air units, along with Reavers for splash damaging large amounts of units, then it's pretty easy to win a battle.

I enjoy using a diversity of units. Blizzard shouldn't "make" people use all the units - it's like making me eat something I don't wanna! D:
