I dont think that this site is 'dead'. Its just that is not updated. It has a pretty good member base, and new people sign up every other day. The only problem I see, is that there is way to much crap on this site. It needs to undergo reform. There is just way to much crap IMHO.

You as part of the leadership should voice concern. Be proactive. This forum could be more informative if the gaming portion was a bit more 'refined?'

That is that there is actually a solid group of people here who talk about gaming strategy, add to the conversation and actually have substance to add such as a new video or something. I just looked through the Terran section, there is a wealth of information, as is with the Zerg and Protoss. But wait! Some of that information is just freaking old. The latest post by Chowzilla on all 3 are very good, but most things prior are just outdated! or useless rambles.

My point is, if you'd like to see this site more informative and 'alive', reform is needed on all levels.

Im not ranting, or bashing, but I see that this site, from your argument that it is in fact 'dead' can be brought back to life if simple changes are made.

In my opinion, from his argument, that there seems to be clutter. A solution would be to minimize all that crap and possibly merge forums.

Im not bashing on the clans that post their recruitment ads. But isnt that counterproductive? All those fine gamers are being sucked into clans, they join this forum, they see the clans in the forums, they join those clans, they leave this forums.

I would try to ask for atleast a dedicated gaming channel for people who do game. People swapping player names and codes arent going to do much. Atleast with a dedicated gaming channel, people can meet and play. People who rant on about why they suck, can be met with "Hey, meet me in this channel, we can get a few games in, and I can recommend what to do".

SC2F is already informative as far as new stuff that SC2 releases such as Patches and new game updates such as HotS. But what about actual gameplay? Those sections are old and people usually dont add to the conversation except for a select few gamers. WHere is the substance? Substance being videos, replays, build orders, etc.

Those are my solutions, and again are my opinions of what can be done. You can obviously battle against me and tell me I'm wrong and SC2F should stay the way it is, but than people like Kuv will say it's dead (and to some extent, he may be right).

Any rebuttals?

I would also like to add, what is the general consensus for this Forums anyways? Is it just a general informational site? Im asking a serious question

Feel free to merge a couple of boards though. And I don't think anything good ever came out of clan recruitment.

You should play the game dude.

But see, thats where your wrong, you been on this forums long enough to have an opinion and seen it evolve. You have to atleast have some sort of an opinion on things. Regardless if you play or not. Even you must see some /fails on this forum.

I see 4 forums that cover all the same subject 'Strategy'. You have, Protoss Units and Structures, Zerg, and Terran and than you have Starcraft 2 Strategy. Look through them yourself, they all involve strategies. Something went wrong there.

Of course just 'merging' forums isnt the answer, there are lots of posts that are informative and cant just be merged to a new forums.

 

I was thinking more of merging in the social and other games sections (merge original and maps/replays). The starcraft 2 boards themselves have decent activity. The site would seem a lot more active if it had less boards. And active sites are very much attractive to new posters.

 

See, you do have a suggestion and opinion, which is productive instead of counterproductive.

I agree, if you remember the days of Clan Empire on this board, you can just see how crazy active the board was, despite the member count. One of our posts has 800 replies, with 28000+ views. Our board was just 1 board, which killed clutter but had tons of actual input and insight in it's earlier days.

Im def. not saying that should happen here, becuase this is a very big and open forum, but still, some forums need to be killed off.

Call me the bad guy or w/e. But I think the clan recruitment ads, as you said, are useless. Not even the Reaper Corp used this forum as a base forum, only Clan Empire did. Clans only use this as a recruitment. Why? Becuase when you google Starcraft 2, this will come up, and what do noobs tend to do? Sign up, and look around, and when they see Clans recruiting, and they have their own forum and with members to play with, THEY JOIN THEM. Back in SC/BW, clans would recruit members in other clans by posting in their channel. This was a very efficient way to kill off clans by slowly recruiting their members. Not saying that is what is happening here, but I am implying that is how it is going down.
