I absolutely love minimalist style desktops. When I found Emerge I remember thinking Hell. Yes. No more Icons.

TiNK, the wallpaper is from a Japanese games called Anata Wo Yurusanai. Never played it, never will, but it apparently makes for great backgrounds, I have two others from the same thing that I use, though this one's my fave.

Heh I minimalized my desktop recently. I deleted half of the crap icons that get automatically added by instalation programs and only kept stuff I actually use more than once a year. I also renamed everything with non-printing characters which was somewhat challenging since I have no numeric keypad (aparently you can't to ASCII value entry with the regular number keys)

One of these days I am going to get around to making a menu so I don't have to minimize my programs. I Could pin them to the taskbar, but that would make it fairly cluttered.

As for the scroll wall thing you mentioned, One of the neat features not documented anywhere that I like about Win 7 is that it can flip through wallpapers. I currently have 10 of them that swtich every 3 minutes. WHat I would really like is an animated background, but MS aparently axed that feature.

    In totally nonrelated trivia
emerge is the command for installing packages in Gentoo
