Dude are you mad? By hitting the Pitbull you are only going to make him even angrier and attack you more fiercely. Doesn't matter if you can fight or not. Unless you are a godamn ninja that can catch the dog in midair and break his neck before he can react, or perfurate his eyeballs, no amount of fighting will help you survive.

lol... have you ever seen what a Pitbull is made of?

Even with a knife, depending on your strenght/reflexes you will still have a hard time against a Pitbull. They have great reflexes and if you don't swing right, he will bite your arm before you can strike him.

Is it just me or does it seem like z-boson has this thing about pit bulls being the strongest and most impossible to beat thing on the earth?

i carry more than one knife on me at a time i would simply stab the dog with the knife in my other hand and as soon as i seen him i would reach for my knives to get them ready so unless he attacked me from the back i would kill the beast for attacking me

this may sound cruel but i will not give a dog a chance to put me down its me or him so he's going to die if he runs after attacking me after i stab him of course i will follow to finish the job, if the pitbull or any kind of dog for that manner will attack me then whats to stop him from attacking someone less capable to defend there self from it like some little kid walking to school, the kid wouldn't stand a chance at all, so i would be protecting young kids and less capable people from this dog crazy enough to challenge me

That was a rather ignorant comment.

People think that they can beat up a Pitbull with their own hands, or are suggesting (though this wasn't said) that they are completely safe against such attack if they have a knife with them.

Watch a documentary on Pitbulls or read an article about Pitbull attacks and you will see what I mean.

Because most people haven't ever seen a Pitbull attack they thing that defending against a Pitbull is defending against any other regular dog. That is just wrong, and that is the point I'm trying to defend here.

Hey darkone is it legal to carry weapons out in the open where you live? Becuase I know in like the United States you have to have a license to carry concealed or deadly weapons with you.

@ z-boson Yes I know no person could take a pitbull with their bare hands, and even if you did manage to stab a pit buill it could probably shrug it off. My point is what you said about it seeing your arm fly through the air than suddenly turning around and catching your arm mid flight, this does not happen unless you are really unlucky and if the dog was already coming for your arm. Plus that was kind of a joke, I guess I should have emphicised that more.

Knives<<<<Pitbull. These dogs routinely keep fighting after they loose a freakin' limb (There was a Discovery channel or something show about the fighting dog pits....Horrid stuff)....I don't think they're gonna worry about a little cut. I'd say the safest weapon would be a blunt heavy one, like a club.

yes i know pitbulls are incredibly viscous, fast, and tough, lots of them are bred for violence, and aren't stupid as far as dogs go, but humans are smarter than dogs and a knife or two in the hands of someone determined enough to kill the dog without emotion and without mercy will prolly put the viscous creature down

cut who cuts with a knife you stab, stab in the face, in the throat, in the chest, in the eye anywhere that will kill him or weaken him enough so you can kill him with another shot

After you did all that you would be pretty f*cked up as well. If you are attacking that leaves you open, and gives the dog a chance of striking a vital part of your body. Though it might be easiest to ward off the dog, it is much riskier then simply crossing your arms over your neck and asking for help.

best solution: stay away from dogs. And yes, never run, they will only become more aggressive and run faster, besides, dogs are much faster than and human. If an aggressive dog is running at you. Try walking backwards a few paces, never turn away from them, as this leaves you open and undefended. If they are still coming at you preparing to attack, brace your legs so that you will not be knocked over when the dog pounces.

I don't know if this would work on a pitbull, but punching the dog in the nose before they attack you usually stuns and frightens them into a retreat. As a side note, the nose punch has also been proven to work on sharks as well.

Fraid I have to disagree with that eon. It is a common belief that punching a shark in the nose will scare them away but from the documentary I saw it does very little expect maybe make them turn for a second, this being becuase their nose is pure cartiledge making it like punching a giant bone. The best place to hit a shark is acctually the gills becuase it disrupts their breathing and they swim away.

If you can hit the shark hard enough to crack it, then it's the best tactic. If not, go for the gills. And do NOT thrash about. EVER. Move only the arm your going to hit it with.

ok, my knowledge must be outdated then. I've never heard of hitting the gills to distract them, thx for the knowledge update.

EDIT: so nose punching does work, but only if you incredibly strong.

Well for the nose punching unless your like Chuck Norris your not gonna be able to hit them hard enough to crack it simply becuase when your striking at it, it will most likely be under water, and if you've ever tried fighting under water as a kid, you know that you attacking power is easily cut by 75%

adding one more to the shark attack thing: do your best to not bleed at all, the 'smell' of blood will excite them to attack even more fircely.

Lol..... I think thats pretty well known lurkers but ummm how do you "do your best not to bled"? I mean unless your like a lizard and just automatically heal any wound, it's pretty hard to "not bled" when your injured.

That's hard to do when all those sharp teeth try to get your body. One bit and that idea is toast. For hitting the gills would it be possible to try and push the shark's nose to the side you you would get a clear shot at them, or would this be way too risky against larger sharks?
