@ ssjfox: it was never said that you were bleeding in the first place.

@ eonmaster: i have no idea how to dodge when im in the water, i hate swiming, so unless some random event happens to put me in that situation, i will never have to worry about that.

Ok gasmask.... I dont think you can "pull them off" becuase they are part of the sharks skin. Oh and if you acctually have time to pull them, you should leave you hand in the gills as the shark will sufficate and die within about 30 seconds. (yeah they die alot faster than us) Also the absoulute best thing you can do is to flip it over so its upside down, this is the equvilant of getting it really really drunk :drunk: and it will just cease to function and stay perfectly still. (Please note its not dead though so if it flips back over, it will continue to eat you)

Reach in and pull...somehow I don't see that working too well in water. You could scare them off that way, but I'm not sure how much damage you would actually do. It might backfire and only make the shark more aggresive and angry at you.

    @ Eon

Pretty much anything that involves hitting a shark in the gills will scare it not make it more aggresive. But you do have a point becuase if you hands are in the shark it can't really swin away soo.... it might decicde to bite your hand off than swim away in which case your defense stargey didn't work out to well....

@ssjfox. I did'nt really say that it would work. On the contrary :p

I said that IF you actually ripped the gills off, it would be effective, but doing it would be like ripping a piece of latex in half.
    Under water. ^_^

LOL! Me too. I was actually going to quote that same thing.... It was just funny for some reason :p

I think it's the continuing to eat you.

Anyway, you guys should check out some of the documentaries about the Great White. People free swim with them quite a bit without being bitten or eaten, but it's definitely a challenge.

This guy was in open water with six of them, but so long as he faced them and kept his arms outstretched to ward them off, they wouldn't bite.

They do try to make "test" bites though, and if you taste good they're gonna come back for the second leg. :p

However, from what I've seen the best approach is to be calm in the water. Thrashing around and swimming crazily will only get you bitten. Its best not to remain flat on the surface, but rather upright and slowly treading toward your desination. Don't flail, as hard as it would be when terrified.

Also, making sure you don't fall off the boat might be a good thing to prevent. :D
    --------------------

As to the Pitbulls, the animals aren't exactly these devilish demon things that try to attack all people they see.

I've run into plenty of aggressive dogs on my runs, especially a night. If you see a dog that seems aggressive, it's probably either curious, has rabies, or its a pitbull gone bad. If it happens to be one of the latter, which isn't very likely, you just need to take the same approach that you take with any dangerous animal.

Stand up straight if the dog isn't moving toward you, make yourself a bigger target and more intimidating. Shine a light in its eyes if you happen to have one on you, or yell and make big gestures and stomp around. But never run. Calmly walking toward an obstacle like a fence or a gate will put something between you and the attacker.

If NOTA works and the dog attacks anyway, protect your face and head as that is what the dog's instincts tell it to attack.

If it's possible, grab it by the neck and subdue the animal, especially if it's wearing a collar. This is an unknown reason to most people that most cities and states require collars for dogs. It allows the dog to be controlled. Grasp the back or front of the collar and twist in either direction around your fist to make a tightening action. Do not pull forward on the collar. Pull to the sides while twisting and turn the dog on its side. Do not attempt to lay on the dog to subdue it physically because you don't want to be on the ground, just continue to tighten the grip.

But once again, I wouldn't be worried so much about a domestic animal. I'd be worried more about things with rabies or an extremely angry neighbor.

There's a question who's more dangerous to society - pitbull or his owner? Dog with normal master never attacks innocent people.

I'm sorry what? You might want to rephrase that...

LOL am I sleepy or didn't I read somewhere to "be careful not to bleed when being attacked by a shark, for they will smell you blood from far away"?

    Probably sleepy lol.

I agree with PK, pitbulls that have nice owners will not live an aggressive life towards others, unless he feels the owner is in danger. The public concept of pit bulls is because of the fact that they were bred for fighting in dog fights and were extremely aggressive because they were only treated extremely terribly.

Most pit bulls today are very nice to humans and many owners of them feel that they are safe enough to allow their children to play with them. As shown here in this video I found online.

Dude where are you guys at?

Most Pitbulls with owners don't charge at anybody because they have been taught better, but give them one small motive to charge after you without a leash when it is in a bad mood.

I once had a friend that had a Pitbull, it was very calm. I could pet on it and all and it wouldn't do anything. Then one beautiful day a small poodle started barking at the Pitbull and he got so mad that he jumped the wall and bit off the Poodles' leg.

After that event, and a few others as well, I have figure out that it is very easy to bring out their instincts no matter how they have been taught.

Don't ever say that a trained pitbull won't ever attack somebody!

    ...

ssjfox you are funny like a fox.

Yes they anger easily, but a well trained pit bull can be trained to release its anger less ofter or in less destructive ways. All dogs can get agressive, people just think that pit bulls are worse than any other dog.

    No, they can't!!

If you piss off an unleashed Pitbull, or even a Rottweiler or any agressive dog in general they will lunge at you without thinking twice!
