Sorry for the double post and revival.

The concert was awesome, but since none of the students participating were going to volunteer to sing a few songs we had one of the two guitar teachers sing. It was annoying though, because every once in a while he'd make a quick little comment, and then sometimes he'd play up the song a bit.

I hated it. It was like he was trying to steal the show and it's supposed to be us showing off what we've learned in guitar...

ANYWHO. I think I'm at the point where I can do most stuff on my own now. For example...

Trying to learn Gene's Rock-a-bye from Godhand (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53F7IFUot6g) and Knights of Cydonia by Muse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_sBOsh-vyI).

I know for a fact I won't be able to do all of Knights of Cydonia, but I am going to learn like the first half of the song, up to the hammer-on part. Hard to do on a classical...

And tomorrow night if my relatives don't surprise me with a guitar, I am buying myself an accoustic. One that can hook up to an amp, which I'll buy later.

Then electric once I get a job hopefully in January.

If you can afford it, go for a Martin with close frets.

    yup.

I played flute for three years and than just last year played clarinet. I found the clarinet better than the flute.

Hmm... a Martin looks nice. I have no idea on brands, but I think I might get my more guitar-savvy friend to come with when we go to buy.

He's been playing for years, is in a band now, and is trying to learn Eruption, so he'll know what'll be good for me...

I own a piano and an oboe.. I play the piano as a hobbie, although I got relatively good at it (I can play through most of the nocturne nº2 in E flat major by chopin, among others).
Im kinda new to the oboe though, but im planning to study it deeply, because (hopefully) I'll get to play in an orchestra in the future :D
And yes, I was a rocker in the past.. I played the drums for several years, got pretty good at it.. but then my heavy metal taste led to power metal taste, which in turn led to classical music taste.. and now im in it for good.

Piano's one of the things I'm considering learning next along with drums and violin.

And how does power metal lead into classical?

Seems like a bit of a stretch but, eh.

Power metal, is pretty close to symphonic metal. Most people see the similarity between symphonic and power.

Also, why the hell are you posting and not partying!?

Because I'm spending all day today messing with my Christmas gifts, tomorrow I'm buying stuff with Christmas money (around 300 dollars in my wallet!), Sunday I'm having some people come over, and on the 31st I'm going to see a movie with like... ALL of my friends.

So I'm very happy for the holidays.

Also, I'll get a picture of me and my new Vince Neil (Motley Crue) guitar.

It has a dragon on it.

    With flames.

Love is truly at my hands, on my fretboard.

haha nice. By the way, with power metal I meant symphonic metal like Rhapsody and Nightwish (the latter not THAT symphonic but with some arrangements you could consider orchestal)

My gifts were pretty lame for the most part, except for a kickass speaker system my dad gave to me to use on a pc im about to buy, which is gonna cost me a whopping 2.000 dollars (been saving a LOT for it).
Keep in mind though, that in Argentina everything is like at least 20% more expensive compared to your prices.. so I guess this would cost you guys around 1500. Still, its a pretty mighty pc *-*. Ok enough with the offtopic :p

P.d: Show me the pic *-*

learn keyboards + synthesizer then. You can do video game affects into your metal.

Oh, right. I had them in Post Your Pictures... let me bring them over.

I think I've heard a bit of Rhapsody, but I do know of Nightwish. I have Century Child. They sound more like opera metal... symphonic metal. But hey, they sound good. And I'm going to run through their CD, see if I can't find a song that has tabs easy enough for me...

And I got my case today.

Very nice because it's really thin, and doesn't take up much room... oh I love it.

I swear, I want the material on the inside as a coat.
