Our two cats are from cat orphanages. And even though people say cats only follow their bellies when it comes to people, our ones love to play and be hugged when in the mood so they're most probably enjoying their stay for more than just the nourishment.

Well, right now, people mostly have a cat or just no pet.

 

I want an ant hill.

Not one of those small ones you buy at stores, but something like a large fishtank filled with dirt and a large ant colony. Then I can throwing in rando insects and watch them drag it into thier nest ^^

I used to want a praying mantis because they're the coolest insects ever. But I had complications having the "fishtank" put together so I gave up on it eventually. But perhaps some day I will have one. It's not like they need an awful lot of space since all they do is stand still. I'd still use a large tank though.

i want a tarantula, that'd be wicked. i want a cicada more, but they don't eat once they get to their flying form so it'd just die it a few days anyway =(

 

Ummm.... You sure about that, Kurai? They still got the proboscis and everything. As far as I was aware they continued to eat sap, just as they did in their pupal stage.

 

yes, i am sure about that. they do have antennae and whatnot, but cicadas do not eat in their adult stage. Their purpose at that point is to mate and make more. At least that is how the specuies i have seen work.

 

Antennae are different to a proboscis. They've still got that hard proboscis for penetrating the bark of trees. It could just be leftover from their pupal stage, but I'm positive I've seen a photo of a mature cicada eating. I'm aware that their only purpose is to mate at that stage, but it's the same with flies and other insects, and they continue to eat throughout their imago stage.

I used to have cats and rabbits when I was in my parent's home, but now I am on my own, and living in big cities, I have no pet anymore. I also encourage people living in big cities to not have pet: this is an annoyance for yourself, for themselves, and for the neighbors...

Also their proboscis must basically be remnant from the pupal stage, which wouldn't be uncommon. Several insects lose or change their feeding parts when metamorphosing.

Since when are crabs and terrapins so closely related? I can see why mice share an option with rats but...


Hardly any resemblance.

I used to own 2 crabs but they have a strong tendency to cannibalize even if they're fed well so they ended up spending their energy on growing new limbs rather than growing. But they look marvellous just after moulting!

it's sad, i've always wanted a pet cicada, trust me i wish they didn't just live to die.
my cats however are happy. after 5 years, we finally got the second one spayed so now both females are living happily and luckily gettin her spayed didn't change her personality :3
