I can't find slimes, and I can't go into my big world yet.

    So no.

The slimes spawn in dark caves up to 16 layers above bedrock level. Go dig and you'll get some soon enough. :)

Oh, I know where they are. I have a gargantuan mine in my main world, but they don't like spawning, either in lit or nonlit.

I'm probably not good enough with wiring to make anything awesome with stickies.

Went on to my friend's server and duplicated the door he made in the 1.7 demonstration video. Also made a way simpler one that doesn't look quite as fancy. Also toyed around with
duplicating that part in Portal 2 where you're trying to push the button and the walls pop up when you get near them by using sticky pistons, pressure plates, and fences
    . (Hint: It's about Portal 2.)

So, what's the deal with growing mushrooms? A few google searches imply that it's impossible and you just have to get lucky with chunks spawning. Tried growing my own patch with a brown and a red, no luck. However, I placed five brown mushrooms in with a pre-spawned patch of red, and after about three days a sixth brown mushroom grew. was I just not placing the solo mushrooms in a dark enough place, or can they only be grown/regrown in the chunks?

I have a functional mushroom farm. They have to be in a very low light place, I made a cave with a piston door to cut off all light. Both red and brown work. Brown seems to grow faster.

huh, go figure. Anyway, here's a story of a very recent mishap that has befallen me.

So I have a ziggurat-like fortress surrounded by a two-block high wall to keep skeletons n' such out. I also have a tower built in with a dirt overhang to keep spiders from climbing up and pouncing me. However three spiders managed to bypass it anyway and take off half of my health, leaving me with a skeleton that was under just enough shade to not burn to death in the morning light. I kill him and go to collect the spoils and am greeted by a creeper right around the corner of my wall, killing me and leaving a giant crater in my house.

I respawn, run outside to recollect everything, and guess what? Yet another damn creeper. I run for dear life until I see he's caught underneath a tree and unable to jump, so I take the chance to exact sweet vengeance by punching him to death. I like to keep my worlds free of any sign of interference, so I go out to collect enough dirt to fill in the hole left by the first creeper. Then it starts raining. Then nightfall comes.

I am currently at the top of a 25-block tall pillar of sand, waiting for the world below to be safe once more.

You... punched a creeper to death? Hot damn.

Ever since spiders gained the wall climbing ability, my base has not been safe, which kinda sucks since it's based out of a surface level dungeon.

With the shrooms, I may have just lucked out, and the chunk thing could be accurate.

Have creepers always been able to one-shot people in normal mode? I can't recall due to explosion injury.

Supposedly spiders can be stopped in there tracks if you put an overhanging block on an otherwise vertical surface. I did it in reverse and made an indent which is only one block high, so I guess the spider just got lucky while jumping around. I also stumbled across another cavern while gathering dirt, and was quickly mobbed by four spiders. My luck seems to have died since downloading my first texture pack.

And now for some fanart I stumbled across:

The thing about spiders is they're the only mob that runs faster than a player, they mess your **** if you don't kill them.

And yeah Jon. Either a wall with a block sticking out at the top, or a wall of cacti and flame and death.
