Too bad it's not a toad! It's a Pacific Tree Frog and I'm not even sure that I'm allowed to keep it, but I've been feeding it regularly, I take about 20 minutes everyday just to catch flies and other bugs for it to eat. I clean its tank every week too.

No crickets? I get 10 crickets for 70 cents at my local pet store. I give them to Mr. Moogers, my mantis.

Watching a mantis eating something, especially when that something's still alive, is actually quite disturbing. Makes me glad they're only a couple of centimetres big, tops.

I find it fascinating, their coordination is incredible.

Co-ordination? After they grab it they just tuck in.

You must only be watching very big ones (for them), I seen one where it took a few bites to eat the whole fly.

I didn't mean they just suck it in or anything, I mean they just eat it as they're holding it in their forelegs. I remember I once went to see something like Bugs Alive or something random with my grandparents and sister when I was quite young at IMAX, and one of the shots was of a mantis catching and eating a fly. It was very elegant and co-ordinated as it actually caught the fly, but once it had a hold of it, it was almost like feeding a piece of timber into a mulcher, only pausing occasionally to shallow I guess, the fly still twitching despite not having a head, and then it'd tuck in again. The insides of the fly were really quite squishy, which I don't think I knew at the time. Knew they had an exoskeleton and all, I guess I just didn't make the connection.

They have to be coordinated once they start eatting it, so they don't stab themselves in the face with the spines out their arms, or bite their arm.

I would think that it isn't much of a task if they manage to strike from several centimetres away and not only do this accurately but with perfect timing to work their arms.

    It looks nice, for now.

I used to have curly thick hair, till it started thinning on top, I still have curly thick hair on the sides.

I like it when I get greek curls.
