Nighthawk + Misc Updates

I'm not sure I understood, the nighthawk can perform everything the nomad did? So its just a reskinned nomad?

 

Yes, it's the new Nomad, but you can't exactly say it can do everything the Nomad could. Every unit changes over time, and previous versions have had different ability cost systems, such as turrets costing minerals.

 

As a member mentioned on another thread, the new nomad, the nighthawk, looks like the Protoss Arbiter

 

Well, there is quite a difference between them, but it's not that bad.

The resemblance could also be explained by the lore: the terrans fought together with the protoss in the brood wars. They could have noticed that the arbiter was a good support craft, and made their new support craft like that on purpose.

 

Thats an interesting view, I never thought the Terrans would copy from the protoss.

 

Hello, I am new here. I have been playing StarCraft since it was released and I still play about 20 games a week. I just wanted to say that the design for the Nighthawk looks alarmingly similar to the Arbiter. I'm offended that they made a terran unit resemble a protoss unit so closely without having abilities also be largely carried over and some kind of story reason for the Terrans copying Protoss designs. There are plenty of cool ship designs, they didn't need an arbiter look-a-like. Seeing the Arbiter - I mean Nighthawk - flying around in screenshots with its rock-n-roll Terran stylings is cheesey. I think it would be better if every race has unique units, except in *RARE* cases where the storyline requires races taking over other race's units - which should be kept to an absolute minimum.

As far as I know, there is no real lore for the Nighthawk yet. There might be some lore in the future explaining the new look. Blizzard tends to come up with new units first, then they look at the lore. Which is, I think, a good thing for the game. Blizzard first tries to make a great rts, then they make it look cool. -Instead of having a cool look, but crappy gameplay. A common problem in a lot of rts games.-
