Ok, hmm entirely original concipets. I can think of hundreds, right now I'm gonna go with two.

One: Man using fire. Where did they copy that off huh? Lightning hit a tree, tree burned, causing heat and light. They realised fire = heat and light. Heat and light = good thing. So then they learned that rubbing sticks together caused fire. Where did they copy that off? They harnessed the fire - that was an orgininal concept.

Two: Living in caves. Outside they were cold, inside they were warm. They realised that living in the caves is more comfortable then living out in the open.

Now unless your twisting the concept of 'originality' then I'm fairly sure I'm right. There are LOTS of original things in the world. If no one came up with new ideas, then we would still be a bunch of people running around in the open.

How does watching lightning burn a tree give them the hint that rubbing things together will also cause fire? Phail!
I think they rubbed their palms together and that's where they learnt about friction causing heat. They learnt rubbing their palms together from experiencing warmth when doing physical exercise.

yeh i didnt want to go into detail about friction and stuff i am just saying they realised fire gave off heat and light so they found a method of harnsessing it.

that's the whole point... all concepts come from recombinations of other concepts - they aren't entirely new, with no relation

and hence your examples don't pass - making fire? as you say, they saw fire beforehand, desiring warmth? they already experienced warmth, etc, etc

It's called Evolution and cognizant thought.

Of course every new idea is going to be built on the foundation of a pre-existing concept. Otherwise no new ideas would appear because there wouldn't be a need for it. Need = solution.

There's no such thing as an original concept. The closest you could get would be the formation of organic compounds from inorganic ones. That would be a novel concept, but would have been directed simply by chance rather than any cognizant thought.

Of course, the same is true of evolution. It's driven by the combination fo chance mutations and natural selection, both non-sentient beings.....

So... there's really no "idea" that doesn't improve upon something else. Everything would come from primal instincts which themselves were created through the process of trial and error, etc...

    Is that even possible?

I think there is such thing as original ideas since a few hundred years ago no one would have ever thought of a sentient computer nuking the planet because computers and nukes didn't exist
