RP board

Space Junk isn't supposed to have quality, it's a borad for spamming ffs! Posting games are the ones that are only supposed to raise postcount and have next to no point other than that. RP is much closer to fan fiction which got it's own board.

Maybe we should just do it there >.>

the fan fiction board would have worked better if it was for blizzard games, or even a wider range, instead of just starcraft

Gas: I've RPed back when Neopets was good. Aw yeah. F*ck the actual pets, I was on the RP boards. But I just prowled, looking for a fantasy RP, then I stopped for... a few years. Then I picked it back up on WoW.

Kaaraa: In the case of a forum like this, a RP thread would be pretty much the OP post is setting the guidelines for a roleplay, then the next few replies would be people mashing out details, and throwing around the biographies for their characters.

 

The problem with that is that even if somone tries to start a semi-serious discussion, it gets spammed to hell.

 

And everything in Lounge that isn't 5 paragraph per post argument get dumped into SJ

 

Just say no spam allowed. If it doesn't work, get a mod to watch over it. If it still doesn't work, ban ijffdrie.

Before this goes to far off the reservation about the lounge let me defend the thought of it being a new board. The advantage of a new board is several people can be appointed to mod the board without actually giving them mod power beyond that point. As for why to not just add more mods to SJ name me someone who would be interested and that I would be able to trust not to abuse it.

Which brings me to another point, we shouldn't need lots of mods to keep control of every thread in SJ. If someone is obviously playing some kind of game or has set down some set of rules about what can be posted, those rules should be respected. The whole point of the spam land thread is a thread for those random spam urges.

P.S. If someone thinks the lounge is becoming to occupied with semi junk make a thread in the lounge or forum questions board and it can be disscussed seriously there.

 

Should we NEED a specific SJ mod?
We have plenty of globals who come to SJ every day (one of whom contributes to the spam through his threads) as well as somone who mods all of the sections in social. Mods are not the problem, the problem is attitude. It says it in the description to post here just to spam, and that is the first problem because people seem to think that extends to derailing other people's threads and none of the mods seem to have a problem with it.

Perhaps if we changed space junk to an off topic board and the mods started using it for more than just a trash bin the spam problem would disssapear. heres an idea. Make SJ an off-topic section, with spam land as a sub forum where crap threads are banished to.

 

We already have that. It's called Lounge.

 

THe lounge is for serious discussions, that does not mean that SJ should exist just to be spammed.

SJ shoule be for the random discussions like the facts thread and the who would you take on a deserted islad. The problem is, the mods don't seem to care if somone derails one of those threads with random spam, nor do they care if somone makes a spam topic

Yes meaningful conversations, but most think it's only for that, while apparently it's not.
The share facts would be perfectly fine in lounge, dunno bout now, but there were times when it wouldn't be moved for sure.

We seem to have a perception problem.

The lounge is seen as a place for serious discussions and SJ is seen as a place to spam whenever you want and moderation follows that. Non-serious discussions have nowhere to go. Post them in the lounge and they get moved here, here they get spammed into oblivion.

Personally I think that we should have one section for serious discussions and another for non-seroious random discussions, and random spam should be banished.
