@zeratul, the only race with organic air is the zerg, so if overload was only good agains organic air, then it would be a very specific counter to zerg air.

overload just attacks all units in range simotaneously, each unit takes the same damage as if the pheonix was attacking that unit induvidually, so using overload on 1 unit wouldnt help you, but on 3, or 5, or 10, it would be more effective. organic/mechanical has nothing to do with it.

If I was protoss and had even numbers of flyers vs the terran counterpart..I wouldn't even bother with overload I'd just pummel em into the ground with the normal attack. (mebe use 1-2 overloads just to make it faster)

Sorry to be a stickler, Ych9, but the Phoenix's ability is called "overload," not Overlord as you keep saying... that's the Zerg unit. ;)
Anyhow, mono e mono, Tempest versus Warp Ray. Who wins it? I'm going with the Tempest.

Hahaha. Thanks for correcting me. I guess I wasn't reading clearly about the ability because Overload and Overlord looked and prounces pretty much da same. Haha, now I feel stupid.

Well, that would be true if vikings could transform immediately. But I'm hoping that there will be a delay between transforming or that it will take a reasonable amount of time to transform so that they won't be invincible against seige tanks, ultras, hydras, pheonix overload, lots, etc. Being able to change instantaneously would OP these units.

Well seeing as how a Tempest's shields are designed only for use against ground units...wouldn't that make it very vulnerable to something like the warp ray? No shields = dead protoss very fast

Assuming vikings could attack both air and ground in both modes...

2 Air Viking vs. 2 Ground Viking

they cant attack ground in air form... only in ground form.

air- only air attack, but increased armor
ground- default form, air and ground attack.

it could be close, as air would have the armor boost, but ground would have the damage boost of AA missiles, assumind that air would be using the chaingun. id have to say ground though.

    colossus vs thor. thor wins.
12 warp rays vs 12 viking. i think viking wins.

i kinda disagree with you there because warp rays hve continuous firing power plus thier weapon gets stronger while their weaopn is continuously firing, like warp rays taking on battlecruisers, viking in air mode will lose in my opinion

with the warp rays vs vikings, if each warp ray attacks a different target, and vikings focus fire, warp rays win. if all the warp rays attack a different target and the vikings each attack a different target, warp rays still win, only easier. to focus firing from the vikings would cause them to kill more warp rays, but after the rays that survive kill their initial target, the vikings dont have a chance.
