Shield idea!

    That would make a Dark Archon the most expensive bunch of 10 HPs you'd ever create...

    ;D perharps you're right

    But I think it will works /looks nice for more "basic" units (like Zealots, perharps) or "direct assault" ( Dragoons). I guess.

    The shield isn't "double HP" it is simply the replaceable portion of HP. Unlike Terran and Zerg, Protoss units have an entire half of their HP that cannot be restored, ever. The only thing the Protoss have to counterbalance that flaw is the ability to rapidly recharge shields (rarely used) and high overall HP.

    And using shields to power attacks? The Dark Archon already does that with Mind Control, and it is incidentally the most suicidal ability the unit can use. I'd like to keep as much of my unit's energy in HP as possible, thank you.

    Not to mention Toss shield already takes full damage from EVERYTHING in the game.
    All Toss units are already hanging on an intricate balance between shield and HP, plz don't make baby zealots cry.

    More shield  =

        Faster depletion all around from all damage types, and more susceptible to EMP which is already powerful against Toss.  But this also means more rechargeable health.  Anything taken off from shield has the potential to be gained back in full. So if a Toss unit only loses shield and lives to see another day, they can come back as new.

    More HP  =

        Slower depletion all around due to reduction from certain damge types, less susceptible to EMP as well.  But this also means all of this portion, once lost will never come back ever, until the unit dies.  Which means if an enemy assaulted your based and dealt damage to the HP portion but ultimately faied, each subsequent assault they will have a greater chance of destroying those buildings.  Of course this applies to units as well, but the impact is greater on buildings, which take much longer to replace.

    I disagree, because then it would be a matter of surrounding a nexus w/ photon cannons. It would b a beast to stop, and you'd have to take out that much health+shield before you can unpower the cannons.

    This idea just hit me but since there was already shield related thread, I'm just editting to add it in here.

    What if they made that useless shield battery a unit? Of course modify stats so it doesn't have building shield/HP, drop it low enough to be one of the weakest Toss units. The cost of building, unit supply count, and total energy pool would all need to be balanced also.

    Hmmm... this is sounding a little too good already. Wait, I'm a Zerg player... :p

    its wierd that they never gave that ability to a unit in the first place, if the arbiter is still in, it would be a shadow of its former self, so they shoud give it remmys idea, but i doudt its gonna be in, the phaseprism gets an equvilent to recall, the mother ship gets the equizalant of its staris ability.......

    Remy, that's a pretty good idea, just that it basically gives the Protoss a Medic unit. I don't want the Protoss to have a need for conventional Medic-type units, because that would just make a bunch of Zealots invincible. And if the Medic gets taken out, and the Protoss get one, then I'll just hate the Protoss SOOOO much I'll probably just... always win out of spite! ;D

    A Protoss medic unit would be terrifying, especially since it would probably be able to charge larger units as well as infantry.
