    Bowling.

    Bowl.

    Bowl over.

    Bowl over pins.

But yeah, I don't see the appeal in handegg.

Football is a better sport anyways.

    I just don't understand that...

    "Hey! Hey guys!"

    "What is it, Ted?"

"I've got a great idea for a new game!"

    "Oh? Tell us about it!"

"Well! You take this here leather Ball, right? And you try to strategically maneuver through the opposing team, while passing, throwing, dodging, weaving, and sprinting all the while!"

"Wow, Ted! That sounds great! What should we call it?"

"Well. You mainly use your hands. So... Let's call it... Football!"

    Hurpadurp.

I'd also like to note, that while many Canadians refer to American "Football", as, "Football", many others, myself included, use Football in the proper way, referring to a game played with your Foot.

amazine that noone has read my post (#11)... but anyway, it's called Football because it orginated from the game Rugby Football which was a varient of the rules used in non-American football, which players threw the ball instead of kicking it.

So when the American group changed the rules to close to what they are now, they couldn't call it Rugby, so they decided to use the part of the name that most people no longer used when talking about Rugby Football, Football

Honestly, I don't even like or watch American football, yet I know at least somewhat how the name was created.

Ahem? Oh, don't mind us. I mean, it's not like it's called soccer by any country in the Southern Hemisphere or anything!

Tough don't get the impression I like soccer. Boring as ****. One - nil, eh? Over an hour and a freaking half, eh? Yeah, that sounds like a fun match...

    It's called Ten Pin. :p

This, coming from someone who watches cricket ! Spending the good part of 4 days standing in a field and watching a few guys hit a ball and run backwards and fowards in the same area....

How did they name cricket.... Hey lets make a game which lasts for days and both teams take turns getting really high scores "Crickets" !

You're wrong on so many levels that I've decided to give you the chance to edit what you've said before I tear your post apart word by word.

At least with cricket, a total score of four runs isn't a 'high scoring game'.

And I take it you didn't watch the Australia/New Zealand One-Dayer a couple of days ago?

If by 'own' you mean needed over six an over for about the last fifteen overs and managed to win with a four off of the last ball, then yes, you did.
