Nothing gets in the way of my seven to eight hours of sleep. Even if I have an exam the next day and haven't studied, too bad exam (hence studying early haha). Most days I have class at 9 or 10am, and so I go to bed by 1am. Of course on the weekends I usually don't get to bed much before 3am - but then I sleep in until noon or later.
It's odd that some people need more sleep than others. Having a night of only five hours of sleep makes me real cranky for instance, but I'm sure you are totally fine.
I only sleep 4-6 hours but it causes me problems because I can stay concious long enough that one day I will be awake from midnight too 5 in the morning then sleep till ten and nex time Ill sleep at noon and its just basicly badfor scheduling around because it rotates. Luky for me I have fridays and tuesdays off so I can sleep at noon those days and wednesdays I usually go to bed at 8.
My sleep schedule is erratic, but I usually end up sleeping an average of 5-7 hours a day. I hate the fact that my bed up in the dorm creaks or squeaks whenever I move. It is also never truly dark or quiet in the room, since there are thin curtains and a bright light outside the window and the AC is quite loud. I can't sleep well during daylight, unless I have been awake all night. Both of my roommates are asleep right now (1:40 PM), and this is fairly typical. Neon says he doesn't sleep, he waits. I say he lies. (forgive the pun) The only time I came close to falling asleep in class was in my English class last year, though the teacher actually made it part of the grade to stay awake, which should give an indication of the seriousness of the sleeping problem in that class. That's what he got for reading for an hour every day to us.
During the holidays and on the weekends I consistently sleep for 10-12 hours, no question. However when I am back at school I only get about 7-9 hours. I've heard that that's supposed to be the usual amount, but I seriously don't get how people can survive on that little sleep. I'm almost always feeling exhausted and washed out, and soon I'm going to have morning classes as well. Can't wait until Uni where I'll have a more flexible timetable. I need my sleep.
The sun is too bright. Plus, why would I sleep during the day when all my classes take place during that time period. I've tried sleeping during the day, but it's just too bright, even with curtains are closed.
I usually get 6 - 8 hours of sleep which is never enough, on the weekends I get (Or holiday) about 12+ hours of sleep usually on Friday only. I also love to wake up and feel tired and fall asleep again, it just feels so great sometimes. I usually cry during class (Well actually just drip tears, since its so boring) and I feel super tired, and fall asleep, but the teachers think that I'm reading, since I hold a book with my head down. I take naps when I'm really tired, like after a major basket-ball game, or any game (Long hours/Tournament). Who takes naps here? I don't like naps. Thats for people who don't have enough sleep, or they just like to sleep. I usually get 12+ hours of sleep on Fridays. Also thats not crazy at all, its awesome! but feels like a major waste of time.
People who sleep for about 10+ hours each night (like me during the holidays/on Sunday) can find that they feel tired because they have overslept. Most people know that you feel tired if you haven't had enough sleep, but not many know that there is a similar effect when you get too much sleep. Obviously if you've overslept you would have a hard time getting to sleep again, but you do get the same feelings of lethargy.
They say if you sleep too much you can go into pre-hybernation, which is what happens to some people I know. The less I sleep, the more energized I feel. Except when I first wake up. It may sound like I'm talking about being slap-happy, but it really isn't the same. As long as I get about 6 hours of sleep, I'm normally good, if not tired for the first half an hour to an hour that i'm awake. And even if I could sleep for more than 12 hours, I wouldn't. As you said, Rex, it sounds lieka complete waste of time. you're not doing anything. You're just wasting time and making yourself more tired in the end.
I sleep 7-8 hours on the weekdays and 10 hours else. But I have heard that for my age (13), Im not sleeping enought on the weekdays.
Thats extremely true Wlck I always try to be active on these forums, and that would be at night. I'm usually here to 12 or 1 on weekdays. Dude that is so very true! You feel tired, but you can't go back to sleep. Its just so weird, it happened to me today, you lay there super tired, but you can barely move but you want to get up and snap out of it. Theres two kinds of feeling tired, the Sleepy tired (Not enough sleep) where it would feel so good just to close your eyes, and the other one where you over sleep which makes you feel tired and you can't sleep. Its an uncomfortable feeling! Is there anyway to get rid of it even over sleeping?
