Worry about the future because we can see what will happen in the future.

Go to hell for that. We don't need new weapons, as said before, senseless violence.

Plus think of the reprocussions to everything if we use RADIOACTIVE weapons everywhere. Lead was bad enough, but yes, lets use waste from nuclear reactors to shoot ppl with because they don't agree with us.

Actually, it might be beneficial for us to do that because in the end it will just wipe us out and the Earth would recover from it in time and begin anew without humanity draining it. So, good for the Earth, bad for humanity.

Nuclear energy actually is a lot cleaner than the fossil fuels we use today, yes it still makes some waste but its not as bad overall.

Also dark I like how you say "go to hell for that" and then talk about not needing senseless violence and hate. You could probably start by not telling people to go to hell, just saying.

Well if there is less people there is going to be less consumption of fossil fuels and stuff... Plus I am sure it would be a good money maker.

in Greece there is a scientist who worked for soviet union till it's collapse and is experimenting in a new type of sollar collector who gathers photons.. He believes that within the new year, the final model capable of collecting 60 kilowatts per hour even during night(because photons exists at allday cyrcle) with a cost of 150!! euros, will be released..

    ooo yess

hmm as for the us, wat about death valley?

seriously tho this would be a good idea, but considering the size, the solar panels would prolly have to be very spread out.... and as for eurasia/africa go build a freakin huge solar panel in the desert with huge batteries :)
then, if that isnt enough, go build some more :D

    anyways, i like this :)

and as for the guy above me, nice man nice thats really kewl :D

Source? At least try to support stuff you write. If that would really be possible, then it wouldn't be just a single guy in Greece who's working on it.

trust me on that aurora... major companies have come close to him.. but he is a pure patriot..
he is planning to give free 150 thousand pieces to poor families..

His name is Sinefakis. He was working for soviet union for the project that you will see here
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwOrhMfQwA0&feature=channel_page

The man to the right is the scientist. You can see the saucer from the "gorgy" factory which never flied..
He worked on Saratov factory and their one of two prototypes with anti-gravity motor flied.. the general constructor was murdered in 2001 from putin's administration
and in 2003 the factory closed..

    Two problems with that:
    1. A D-T reaction has more ebergy density and we have plenty of that HERE in the oceans.
    2. Fusion power has yet to reach break even, we a a little ways off from being able to usse it for power-plants.

Right now we are stuck with what we have.
The two best are probably solar and Nuclear. Ignore the stigma attached to nuclear power, current reactor designs are made so that as the pile heats up the reaction slows down making a melt down impossible, and we have much better protocols now. Also note that Chernobyl was as bad as it was because it had no containment vessel (also they were using one of the reactors to run experiments) , Building another power-plant like that now would be very bad for PR, so it probably wouldn't happen.

The other thing is, current reactor designs are breeder reactors which recycle much of their fuel in situ, so that already reduces the waste, the other issue is that most of the fuel that is thrown away still have 80% of the original fuel that went in, and we have the means to reprocess those fuel rods back into new ones, which could phenomenally reduce the radioactive waste. Nuclear power is some of the cleanest and most viable power around, all we need to do is increase everyone's awareness of it.

And Yes it IS one of the cleanest, it only contaminates the environment if there is a MAJOR accident (the containment vessel is designed to prevent minor accidents from contaminating the environment) the power-plants that burn coal and oil and such emit hazardous chemicals directly into the atmosphere as part of normal operation.

Also it is more compact for its energy than solar and the plants don;t have to be built where theres lots of sunshine and aren't affected by the weather. If someone can get to work on solar satellites (a good idea) those might be rendered moot though.

Also a lesser known fact, being bombarded by neutrons constantly, will leave the inner walls of a fusion reactor somewhat radioactive, so fusion power isn't 100% clean if you have to replace the parts.

You do realize there have been doomsday dates like 2012 for hundreds of years right? There have been at least 20 dates throughout history like 2012 and world hasn't ended yet. I wouldn't believe much of it.

I would like to remind everyone that just because a calendar stops, it does not mean that time stops.

Now if the Mayans had marked the date, circled it in red, and written "we're screwed" then there might be a bit more reason to consider something is up

Mayans just run out of stone to make more and they didn't need it to go any further for the time being

oh, good old cracked to save the day.

fusion power has yet to even become a reality. scientists, for now, only have theories on how to control it. the only thing we've put fusion power to use so far are hydrogen bombs. the world's first fusion generator, an international project, isn't scheduled to be finished until 2018.

fission power is pretty clean with modern technology, and as long as they don't do something stupid with the waste like disposing of it on a fault line or something....

They DO have working Fusion reactors (lost of them in fact) the issue is that they take more power to run than they generate (ie. they haven't reach the break even point yet) so they aren't useful for power generation.

Also about the hydrogen bombs, the fusion in hydrogen bombs isn't actually what causes the damage. The fusion reaction in H-bombs only serves to create more neutrons which create more fission reactions in the fissile material. So far no one has created a true fusion weapon either, what we have now are actually fusion boosted weapons (not that it matters though, you can still destroy a large city with them)

You know asdf, it's very easy to back and look at history and then interpret a prediction that has been made to be true AFTER an event already happened. I could easily go back and look at some predictions and say "oh well that must of meant ww2" and say that it was successfully predicted which is still bs.

Forget nuclear fission and fusion power ... solar, wind, tidal, and geothermal can provide all of our energy needs and then some ... and best of all, it's clean and safe :) It's time we start learning how to harvest these natural energy sources more effectively.

2012 it's not just a calendar's end.. It's the end of an epoch for the mayans and the birth of a new one..
wait n' see.. You have waited for starcraft so long.. You don't have nothing to lose if you wait till let's say the thrid expansion..!!

Please steer clear of the 2012 bull**** in here and stick to the topic.

"Forget nuclear fission and fusion power"
Is there any good reason why we should?
