yah i want the terran in starcraft 2 to look and feel more powerful because in starcraft 1 everything specially the terran wasn't powerful looking enough. the game was 10 years ago, everything was lacking if you know what i mean. and yes i compare them to other NEW scifi genre (games movies etc) and it is the right thing to do(just dont get exagerated)... and im sure blizzard is too, thats why we got the colossus(war of the worlds), thor(gundam maybe, supreme commander, juggernaut of CNC3), jetpacks units(warhammer), armored DT, mothershipS, etc. And yes starcraft 2 is not based on "alien(dark setting)" movies anymore. The terran should not resemble the soldiers in the alien movies in the first place, thats why we get to see gay ghost and sissy mediocre marines in sc1. Don't get me wrong i love those cinematics, back then it was cool and badass but now its really is not.

Everything in sc2 is UPDATED and im sure there were many flaws and mistakes in sc1 lorewise(units, jeeps, slow moving wraiths in space(cinemtaics), WWII tank in the ambush, barracks, Commandcenter that looks like its going to fall apart and NOt functional at all and so on), too much nostalgic things going on. HELL ITS ABOUT TIME the terran looks more POWERFUL, RICHER, STRONGER, HIGH TECH, have a BIT shine to them, that is the way they should be in the first place. just look at the new sc2 marine (this is what they should look like in the beggining) but unfortunately like i said we were all limited (imagination etc) back 10 years ago when we get an ackward medieval looking marine, supply depot, commandcenter, etc(<--to much alien movie setting and feel). .

but still plasma pistiols>pistols. and no i dont want them to have plasma pistols. but rather something NEW and blizzard own invention.

I agree that some units looked really old in SC1, and I am happy with all Terran design changes in SC2. The new Siege Tank for example looks awesome, I like its new high tech look. But what I like even more is that it is bulkier when in siege form. It looks more like a siege weaponry now.
but don't you think that at least some units should look less fortunate? They are just mere Reapers. The jet packs are not of the latest brand, but the technology is new since SC1, so you still notice how it's even further into the future.
The Terrans instead focus their resources on modernising Thors and Siege Tanks, just like it should be. That's awesome IMO. But Reapers? No one really cares about them, lorewise.

 

if they are really not effective lorewise then they should not be in the game at all. So they are only there to kill workers which doesn't really make sense lorewise.

anyway they got D8 charges which make them worth it, but still the pistols is not just going to work lorewise when compared to other weapons. i think every infantry should be fortunate specially the reapers, i mean theyve been training 10x times harder than an average marines so they deserve something better than pistols to make them proud and die happily with their cool weapon. lol

 

They are in the game because lorewise, they are by products of society that suddenly comes to great use if you give them a jetpack and a couple of cheap guns.

Also, look at this.
One of those guns are the same size as his torso. That's one hardcore pistol if you ask me.

 

thats a horrble picture. it looks so blocky but w/e The reaper is not a power house attacking unit, hes a speed unit. U cant have a speed unit doing too much damage then it would be gay. Imagin a Zergling doing the damage of a Tank.... Now that wouldn't be fair at all. Faster units=little damage. slower units=Lager ammounts of damage. people need to stop trying to change the lagic of units.

 

Why should Terrans look high tech? The whole concept of the Terran army is that it is basicly made on the fly as the situation dictate. How many makeshift items do you see that look shiney and perfect?

 

stuck with broodwar. made on the fly? <- this is getting older. you must realize the terran in BW has some flaws on them(figure it out) yes that includes being scrappy and nostalgic. and blizzard has gone along way in creating sc2.

ok which one do you want the old marine or the new mech marine. which one looks more high tech? im sure blizzard wants the terran to be high tech. come on 2400x years it make sense.
if terran is not high tech.. you shoud be complaning about the thor and the battlecruisers in the first place.

and it doesnt mean that if its high tech it should be clean and crisp. no.

sorry i was getting mad ive been explaning myself on most pages of this thread and other threads please read them.

anyway i must say that the pistol on the reaper pic looks great but still...

ok. dont you guys want to make the reaper look more nicer and badass.. i do, and i think a change of weapon will do that.

 

yes i agree many people are still a little too stuck on starcraft brood war but the reaper dose not need a change of weapons, the pistoles are just fine the way they are and they fit there look, There like the gun slingging cowboys of 2400.

Are you saying the BattleCruiser and thor or bad?? if so i STRONGLY disagree! the thor is kinda iffy but a battleCruiser no freakin way! Look at the dang thing. the StarCraft BC only fired 1 time at one target, LOOK AT IT NOW it fires like 4 shots befor its break. The thor is a big flashy terrafying unit that sounds soo terran like, Now that the thor is anti-air and Most likly shoots a ton of air missles at income air targets i would be afarid of dat dang thing too. U cant picture 3 or 4 thors with mass tanks and marines, med, and firebats. I really cant see how u dont like the Thor and BattleCruiser

no you got me wrong. i love the thor and bc. all i was saying is that terran is "high tech" because they have thor and bc. and people complains that terran isnt suppose to be full high tech and that reapers doesn't need "high tech" or better weapon than the pistols, so my argue is that they have thor and bc so reapers can easily get something better than pistols. xp

 

the thor and the battlecruiser are very expensive weapons for generals, that are used multiple times in a war, so are worth the expense

reapers die the first time you use them and have to cost less

 

U act like ur ganna throw a Reaper in the middle of a battle amd plan for them to do every freaking thing! There raid only units with D8 charges that have a very risky use! The duel pistoles fits there look and them only cause it has a fast look. The unit it not made to be a heavy damage taking unit THATS WHAT THOR WAS MADE FOR OR EVEN A TANK. jeez i would rather have a marine take a hit then a reaper. Theres no point in discussing the reapers and how they look because on a large scale theres one 5 out of 50 people who dislike the reaper.

 

im fine with it actually but im not fully contended. if people are satisifed then ok.. but making them look and feel MORE better is something that we should be open with.

pistol(dont kill me)
shuriken machine gun
two miniature rocket launchers
grappler guns

whats wrong with em?
they aren't ment to be hardcore-kill all end all be all
they do low damage so they dont need high powered weapons

anyway if you guys really fine with the pistol and dont want anything better. then just checkout my reaper artwork (with pistol unfortunately) later. i'll post them in the terran section thread. ;D

2 miniatures rockets (launchers?)...hhhmm. sounds nice..

 

They really arnt pistols by modern days standards. They are mor like rail gun uzis their attack animation just looks like psitols because they using short bursts. And yes I do personally like the uzis.
