I have played the first 3 Halo games, and I think those are a better judge for some things than the books, because in the books the power of plot sometimes make things sound more powerful than they actually are.

I havn't looked at the really depth lore around Mjolnir armor but I would wager Marine armor is better than it in every way besides shielding. Mjolnir armor is designed to make the Spartans very good special forces soldiers, which means speed, strength, and manueverability, not always defensive ability. More to the point though Marine armor is designed to slow down and stop much higher penetrating attacks than most UNSC weapons, while Mjolnir armor is more designed to abosrb larger number of weaker attacks (the shields play a big role here).

See above about the effect of plot. Also, I am not trying to compare in game figures for Starcraft because they are obviously distorted because the game is a non-squad based RTS. As for picturing a Marine wielding a weapon that is normally viechle weapon in the Halo universe, remember Marines are wearing power armor so they can control weapons that are much larger than normal (kinda like how Spartans can use the rocket launcher and missle pod by themselves).

As for the Protoss versus Covenant argument I say the Protoss kick the Covenant's *** because I have already argued this. When I get a chance I'll try and edit my old posts on the topic into a long complete post on the topic.

I felt no need they were valid. I have to agree that marine power armor would make them capable to use heavy guns as it actually states when you look up the armor it boosts capabilities to use guns not to mention the C-14 has recoil reducing technology. As to the marine armor being powerful for defense, well they're ment to defend against 8mm wide metal spikes fired at speeds faster then normal bullets (these spikes are also AP and can be HE i believe) where as the Mjolnir is meant to defend against mainly plasma attacks from the covy and the occasional bulet (Marines have bad aim)

"Other points" include the spaceship combat section and criticism on (lack of) unit mixes.

  4. Pretty much each Starcraft side beat their Halo counterparts. The only one we don't know about is the Forerunners vs the Xel'naga.

@Kimera, A terran marine would probably lose to a Spartan 2, but I'm pretty sure one could take on a Spartan 3.

Eh, Flood versus Zerg could be interesting, and so could Terran versus Covenant.

  6. Ends with the Zerg assimilating the flood.

On a different site, the Dominion alone tied with the Covenant. With the UED, Umojan Protectorate, Kel-Morian Combine, Raynor's boys and any other Terran faction, I believe they would win as well.
