I'd like to think it wouldn;t be an impediment to my relationship (unless its infectious and fatal/really screws you up), but I honestly don't know how I would react and hope I don;t have to find out.

I think it has to do with my complete and utter disregard for my physical well being when stacked up against my mental health.

IE I'd gladly lose a finger if it meant that I wouldn't be faced with a conundrum. I'd risk my health to be with a sick family member. I'd give my life to save that of another.

if it wans;t fatal, like BoP said, I'd like to think i'd be able to get over it.

I agree with Fenix here. If circumstances led to me falling in love with somebody who had an STD, I don't think I would shun the physical aspects of our relationship just because I could get sick. It'd be simple enough to use protection every time.

And to be honest, if the STD wasn't life-threatening or seriously debilitating, I wouldn't have a problem with foregoing the protection once in a while. True love doesn't care.

Even though it takes about 30 years with modern medicine to die from HIV i would probally not take that kinda risk... Alot of STI's have horrible long term effects even if you are being treated for them so i guess probally not. But it really depends on kind of STI they have, if it just means discomfort then i wouldn't mind.

Yes, STI is used more commonly than STD now because its technically a more accurate name in most cases. In the same way STD replaced VD (Venereal disease) a while ago.

Sorry guys, I was gone for a few days.

I agree with Fenix and Ninerman here. Even if the one I was in love with had HIV, I wouldn't leave that person. I am not speaking from experience, cause Maddie doesn't have any STD's, I hope. Even if she does, and she just hasn't told me, it would not effect the way I feel about her.

Ok guys who need it narrowed down. If it was incurable, but not life threatening at all, like say, Herpes. Would you still want to be with that person? Could you be the lover on the person with herpes on those valtrex commercails?

I honestly don't know, i'd have to be in the situation to answer properly.

What if she did have an STI, but didn't tell you until after you had already had sex? Could you stay with her after she knowingly put your health at risk like that?

I would be very pissed in that scenario. I don't know what I would do if she did that. I really doubt she would do that to me though.

Usually you will know if you're gonna be with the person permanently, if you can put twos and twos together. If I wasn't supposed to be with the person permanently and my health was at risk, I'd leave. If my health wasn't at risk, then I wouldn't be bothered, as refraining from sex is helpful to my practices and stuff, so the sex wouldn't be an issue.
If I was supposed to be with the person permanently I'd look for herbal cures, as I know they're out there. Shamans would fix that easily.

one tip, check her after the shaman cure again. I dont belief in stuff like that(though they occasionaly discover something that really works), but even if you do it is smart to get her checked out before jumping to conclusions

anyways, a little off-topic, there are some nutjobs originating from America(whad'ya know?) that say that STD's arent real but is just a lie invented by the Catholic church so that people would be afraid of sex outside of marriage

    Wut...

Yeah, the Church does lie about a lot of things, but that isn't one of them. Though, their no-protection clause obviously can lead to receiving a Sexually Transmitted Disease.
