Well there's a free SC2 (no pun intended) beta on Steam right now. I just want to ask you guys what you think of Supreme Commander 2.... My thoughts; I like the huge area of the map, allowing more opportunities for ambushes and stuff. I haven't played it, so I don't really know about the gameplay. However, after watching a few demos, I was like, meeeh boring. I don't know, but I really hate it when it take more than 30 seconds of focus firing before being able to take down a unit, kinda like Warcraft. Besides, everything seems to be on slow-motion as the map is just so massive and so are the units, and it takes like 5 minutes just to build your base :/
Honestly i'd play: http://dagobah.biz/flash/Mastermind_World_Conqueror.swf Instead. SuC2 doesn't seem all that fancy tbh..
I've played the demo and think the campaign is quite terrible. Its basically the AI opponent will try to maintain a certain amount of guys as you push towards the objective and the only way to make progress is to build a really really really huge army and attack...if this fails your gonna be waiting for another 10-15 minutes to attack again. This is coming from someone who played it on a rented projector (got for SC2 and ME2) :O
supreme commander is half the game that starcraft is. literally. it's purely a game of macro: either teching up or massing units. you send wave after wave and there's no micro involved. the closest thing to micro would be focus firing, but you really only need to do that once every minute... maybe. in starcraft, losing one unit can be a tragedy. in supreme commander, losing a thousand units is a statistic.
I wrote a review of SupCom 2's campaign, which can be found here: http://www.starcraft2forum.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13386 @ASDF Nice paraphrase of the Man Of Steel.
