How do people come up with alternative spellings anyway?

 

I sincerely doubt the anon responsible is reading that.

Also, most incorrect spellings seem to come from rule exceptions (such as i before e EXCEPT after c) confusing people.

 

Most my mistakes come from words where there are no rules, such as guard. That looks wrong to me, but gaurd is sooo not right.
