    There'll be a chance to pick up an ally of the opposite gender with the number 2 most picked ability. Possible romance if you guys go for it.

    Yeah, Ovie, ??? means mystery. Up to you whether to pursue it, but I doubt it'll be chosen.

    looks like the main character is a female Pyrokinesis mutant, with the possible male partner as a Shadowstalker.

    At least one of the ability complement the other, the Pryo can support the Shadowstalker by creating a flame which can cause shadows to shift about to where the Shadowstalker can use them.

    Couldn't the shadowstalker also take our female into the shadows and come out somewhere else?

    ??? means that the origin is unknown. A moot point, but I was gonna have memory loss for the most part of the story then regain it (the number 2 result ofc) at the final battle, a la Wolverine style.
