You know what the funny thing is, the United States, for all intensive purposes, doesn't have a left wing party. There's a Conservative party and a slightly less Conservative party. What do other countries get to chose between? The Ultranationalist and Communist parties. Now THOSE are proper right and left wing parties.

The US and by the US I mean anyone living in it. Do not want an extreme form of government. We do not want an ultranationalist party, and we don't want to be Communist. We started out with an extreme form of government and we didn't like it very much. Also, you may not be aware of this but the US isn't very open minded about Communism, and I am fairly certain most people aren't to fond of Ultranationalists either. Simply put Americans do not like extremes.

drie has a point... whats considered left wing in the US is considered right wing in most of europe. I find it laughable when US right threatens with socialism.

Bingo, I don't give a **** about majority of other Americans; there's too many people in our country anyway. I don't want to pay for:
    - Fat asses; They're selfish, disgusting wastes of flesh, and we have far too many of them. Let them eat themselves to death, it'll make everything better.
    - Old people; I don't feel like paying for your viagra, you old, useless f*ck. Die already, christ.
    - People who spend more time at the Pharmacy then they do at home; We have a lot of these; You don't need a gently caressing prescription for every one of your goddamn problems, for hecks sake.
    - Lazy people; Get a f*cking job you freeloading slobs.
    - People in general; Yes, basically everyone. Stop being so goddamn careless with your bodies and perhaps you won't need socialized healthcare.

The only thing our country needs is a flat tax; it brings in more money and it's the most fair. If you don't tax the people into oblivion, nobody would ***** about not being able to pay for, oh, what? HEALTHCARE. For your mother's sake.

Easy there RedLazer, it sounds like your head is going to explode while typing that post. :D

But isn't this thread is a little more suited to be in the Lounge?

It was originally meant as a joke, and some people took it seriously. Redlazer you are by the way confirming the view of ignorant conservatives.

Oh don't worry, that just means I'm happy. I like arguing politics, I can be a douche bag without feeling bad after :D

So, the sad truth makes me a ignorant conservative? Nothing I said there was that warped; Hating fat people, old people, pill poppers, and the American people in general does not make me a conservative.

I'm sorry that noting the truth; the overwhelming number of obese people in our country, the number of senors, the massive pharmaceutical industry, and the general unhealthiness of the American people, makes me ignorant.

I am glad you can act like a jackass without feeling bad about it. However if you continue to do so here you won't stick around for very long.

Commenting on the truth doesn't make you ignorant, a complete misunderstanding of the facts around those tidbits of truth you commented on makes you ignorant.

You know, I would be one of those people complaining about how we pay too much for Social Security, but I'm going to be honest with myself: when I'm old, I'm going to really want my free money :p

'A complete misunderstanding' is your own opinion about mine, and therefore no more true than mine. Obviously someone's getting a tad bit upset over some black humor.

And, see, conservatives like LK are awesome.

In regards to the Right Wing and Righter Wing comments, I still consider myself true left wing in some aspects, and conservatively libertarian in others.

Yeah, that's right, a Commie Libertarian. F*** YEAH FOR PARADOXI

There is also another reason i forgot to mention. The reason why most politicians do not want to touch the health care issue. Mainly because if they make a socialized health care program the Health insurance institutes will crumble and anyone working for them would lose their jobs. At this point in our nations history I don't think putting hundred of thousands of people out of work is such a good idea. Remember they have families as well who depend on them to put food on the table. Also Redlazer is kind of correct about some of his points. I mean should smokers be allowed to have the tax payer pay for his surgery? I mean should we be forced to waste tax dollars on an individual who is sick because he decided to be ignorant? Honestly I think the country needs a balance between both private health care and public.

If there's both the private and public option, who is going to pay for it? WHo in their right mind will pay for something when they could get it for free?

On the other hand there are millions of people without insurance or with bad luck and rejected insurance who either die on the street in front of the hospital or spend the rest of their life paying the debt.

Easy, the private sector would obviously offer better equipment better medical supplies, and provide better trained people. Public would be like everything else that would be public long lines, decently trained people, dozens of required forms to fill out, and of course a dirty waiting room. Just like we have a public police departments and private police departments, and public fire departments and private fire departments. One is free to use and has government funding to keep it up and running. While the other is privately funded has better trained people working for it and acts professional and courteous at all times. I mean we have a public mail system too, but for some reason people prefer to use UPS and FedEx.

Which the politicians are trying to work on providing health care for, but at the same time trying to keep our economy going.

No I agree with Fenix that a properly run state insurance would kill most of the competition. Some bits would probably reman depending on how much does the state insurance cover for but it wouldnt be anything like it is now.
But I am fine with that, this is my only exception to the rule of minimalistic government. Run the army, police, fire department, medical care and pension and otherwise leave me the **** alone.

I actually think private secuity forces overseen by a few government officials would be the way to go. The current law enforcement policies have waaaaay too much power/corruption.

IMO, a socialist yet libertarian democratic minarchy is the prime form of government.
