Hm I am not sure that would solve the issue but I know that the US government already uses large number of mercenaries in Iraq/Afghanistan.

The wealthy would still prefer private health institutions over a public. Mainly because they are more customer oriented and better trained. They would use it for the same reason they use the UPS rather then the post office.

Also, the US got into a lot of trouble because they used private security forces. Namely blackwater made some seriously bad calls over there in Iraq.

Not an example I'd use (look at Blackwater/Xi), but similar concept.

Not private contractors though, think along the lines if, say, ADT had guns.

Fenix, are you proposing a privately run security force? Like....Oakland Police, Inc.?

They already have those wackinhut is such a company. I believe Florida uses a similar private security company to help handle investigations and transportation of violent offenders.

Add the railroads to that! I'm pretty sure that's one of those businesses that the world has learned over the years to keep national instead of private.

Redlazer just because something is my opinion that doesn't make it wrong, and you so far seem to love proving me right. Also, upset suggests an emotional problem with the situation, if I was emotional I would be disregarding ethics in my handling of you. Since I have obviously continued to let you speak unhindered it is very likely that I have not responded emotionally to you. I very rarely get upset on an online forum, what you are seeing is annoyance. Ignorance annoys me hence you are annoying me, nothing more.

As for the health care debate going on in this thread I think there is some confusion between public health care, public health insurance, and what most Democrats are trying to push through Congress. However I don't really want to delve to deep into this debate atm.

Everyone should have health insurance? I say everyone should have health care. I'm not selling insurance.

People who throw the word 'ignorance' around annoy me. It's the biggest cop-out of a word I have ever seen. It's hypocritical. My opinion is ignorant, but you're not ignorant for deeming my opinion as such. Oh, okay!

    Uh.

I'm not sure you know what 'ignorant' means.

"My opinion is ignorant, but you're not ignorant for deeming my opinion as such."

This, often times, is a completely true statement.

If I said the sky is green, and you told me, no, it's blue, I would be ignorant and you would not be.

Generally, it takes competence to recognize ignorance, which is why the American public elected Bush a second time.

That's why it's a poopy word! I probably would have respected him more if he just said "Your opinion sucks roosters" instead of throwing 'ignorance' around, which makes you sound like a tool, if you ask me.

Bush is an idiot indeed. Americans are a stupid people indeed. Obama is also an idiot. I think this is all generally agreed with, besides maybe the last one; Don't have an accurate reading on the number of Obama doucher fan boys out there.

Redlazer, wouldn't that kind of put you in the idiot category? You can't really throw out the whole "everyone's dumb except me, I'm special" argument can you?

See, around here, we have a little something called 'respect.' As of now, no one has any for you. This being the case, I present you with two options.

    STFU or GTFO.

So Redlazer you would have rathered me just call you a moron or idiot? I use ignorant because it isn't as directly offensive. You may have noticed that while I am direct I don't go out of my way to be mean unless someone really pushes me, or continually pushes a position without any support. I am with Fenix through if you don't want to argue intelligently shut up or get out.

Does anyone else remember when this was a nice mocking of conservatives and less-conservatives alike?
