@ Renatus: That whole rant of mine was a general fume. You're right in the sense that this site actually does a pretty good job at staying relatively calm. However, I do have to disagree that it is an inevitability that people get angry at claims as to whether or not God exists. I have my own beliefs and you have yours. There is most definitely a way to discuss view points with each other without belittling one another's beliefs.

@ Higgs: That line is a reference to both sides of the argument. There are people who absolutely refuse to accept anything contrary to their own set beliefs due to an inner need to be right. I have no problem if people want to believe that the world was made in 7 days. If you believe it, all the power to you; just don't try to force anyone else to believe it too out of some need to justify that belief. The same goes that if you do not believe in a higher being. It's your call as to what you believe or don't believe; just do not try to belittle others because you believe that you are somehow better or "enlightened" because of your beliefs. That's what I meant about my narcissism comment. If you believe or do not believe something in some form.,Cool, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subject. However, never assume that your beliefs are the complete and utter gospel that all people in the world need to live by. I want people to persuade me, not to preach to me. Again, this is for all people in general, I wasn't pointing specifically to anybody on this site.

Regardless this guy let his child die for no other reason then ignorance. I don't care what your beliefs are, and it shouldn't matter. God never said we couldn't practice medicine, and yet this guy was against it. He had the ability to keep his child alive and well by easier means. Yet he decided to choose faith because what? He wanted to show everyone he was a true christian or something? Seriously this guy deserves to have his children taken away if he has any left. On top of that he should also be convicted of manslaughter or something similar. There is absolutely no reason for him to make that choice, when he had a perfectly viable solution to fix his child's problem sitting in front of him.
