    I'm Roman Catholic.

To me, it doesn't matter what religion people are, as long as they are nice people, like those on this forum.

Buzz killing is good, because on-topic is good.

Anyway, several people on my floor of my dormitory are jewish, and someone out there plays SC. I am not sure if there is any overlap though.

The two threads were basically the same thing. Both are asking about each member's religion.

Your's was just more specific, asking only for those who were Jewish. However, the people on the forum turned it into a copy of this one: talking about what religion they are. Ultimately, the mods thought it was similar to this one, so it got merged with it, resulting in one thread, rather than two, to save space.

It seems that most active people on this forum are either christian or atheist, but there are most likely a few Jewish members besides you, SuccaMC, as well.

I'm fairly sure I'm the only one of my religion who actively posts.

im Atheist. I'll answer why, but not in this thread. In a thread made for civilized religious-discussion. Or, in the chat. But only if everybody in the chat is OK for a little discussion. And I won't talk to people who are going to either A) Insult any religion, or lack of for that matter, or B) repeat the same thing over and over again.

Well I'm a sortof um... made up religion.. sortof lol. I'm a Christian that doesn't really believe in the Old Testament and thinks God created the earth and stuff, but we have been evolving from there....

I don't see how that works. The beginning of the Old Testament talks about how God created the work and people. If you don't believe in the Old Testament, then you don't believe that God created the world.

So unless you only believe the first few books, your post contradicts itself.

    Eon, tsk tsk.

Just cause he believes God created the Earth doesn't mean he believes it the way the Bible sets it out.

No offense to any Orthodox's out there, but the Bible is so full of amazingly glaringly obvious mistakes....It makes me sad really.

I think interpreting the Bible as the word of God is the only thing wrong with it, other than that, it is a great collection of stories that just so happen to be a part of the basis of Western Culture. Well some of the stories are cool, the stuff about God telling people how to cook their meat in an exact certain way on a certain day are a bit boring. But hey, when that dude chucks a rock in Goliath's eye, that is so brutal.

I think the way the Bible plays out isn't literal. The 6 days that it took to create the earth doesn't mean literally 6 days. Time is irrelevant to God, so the 6 days could in fact be billions of years in human time.

This would explain how it took billions of years for the earth to form and ultimately have human life today. This is just my view on how it is translated from the Bible to the real world.

btw, I'm not Orthodox, so I don't take any offense.

I agree, I think the whole resurrection of Jesus is entirely metaphorical.

The priests that have been teaching me in school all said that even if the Bible said God created humans (from ribs and what not), it doesn't mean it happened literally the way it's shown there.
