If I had to put a group distinction closest to my thoughts, I'd put Taoist. Religion? Nah.

Sorry for not reading those 44 pages Ill just drop my opinion and response to the first poster:
Atheism is most certainly not a religion. And personally I dont believe in any god, no religion since I am a man of fact and faith goes against whats I believe in (the word "believe" might not be the best word to use, I do realise that) so you could call me an atheist.
However if I was to pick one it would have to be buddhism since I like the idea of "your freedom end where somebodies elses freedom begins".

Ætheism may be a lack of religion, but for purposes regarding religious rights, it is still considered.

I'm surprised that this topic can reach this far (44 pages, wtf?!?!) But the Brain Teaser thread is still the longest topic ever, with me being one of the suspects. LOL.

Well, I'm an Evangelical Christian and I believe that my beliefs all boils down to faith. Humans are given free will, so a man's choice is his own.

I believe in a God because I have evidence for his existence. Here's some of it:

I think I have already mentioned this in this topic, but I am a pretty solid atheist. I pretty much completely dissagree with any of those things constituting a "proof" of a god. But, I am not going to get into a debate on the topic because I don't like arguing against anyone who is paritiailly dependent on faith for their belief about something. But just to make a quick comment, it is theorized that there is an infinite number of universes, if this is true infinity qushes 10^92 like a bug.

I was born catholic, although Im not that into the bible and weekly rituals. I don't believe we'll be sent to Hell for eating meat on a Friday when you've done good things.

I believe in a God, and he helps (sometimes) due to my own understanding. But he basically leaves most of us alone to learn for ourselves.

I'm an agnostic who believes that all organized religions are false representations of god if he even exists. I also believe that everyone is an agnostic to some extent and thereby cannot proclaim to totally believe in god or in the case of athiests discount god as a concoction of our imagination.

Jehovah/Allah, Krishna etc do not exist however god may still exist. I don't have anything against people who privately convince themselves of the truth behind their own organized religion since they will on average live happier and longer lives. However sadly something happened when i was eleven and i stopped believing so statistically I’m going to die earlier...damn my unimaginative brain.

yes, i was raised catholic. I have my disagreements with my church, because there are some things i donwright disagree on that is preached, and i know the bible contradicts itself a lot. but as for the central religion, i believe in it. I'm not some kid who is believing because their parents, i have enough reasoning to stop if i found it wasn't right. there are many issues that me and my parents don't agree on now. but i suppose you can say i had a predisposition towards it x3

    Just out of curiosity.
wow...kind narrow minded, aren't you? sure, i don't believe they exist but other people do believe it. it seems unfair to say 'i'm agnostic, so i may believe in God', but not anything else. seems like you're an agnostic with christian tendencies, that's what i think.

say what? there's no proof that religious people live longer. show me some studies and we'll see. but i think it's luck of the draw, personally. some people who don't have been affected by things, same with people who do. like a cancer patient may start believing because they survived, or a person with problems may think there is no god and turn away. i think the religion of a person doesn't really determine how long/the kind of live they live. i think it's reflected by how they've been living.

Question to all the atheists on this board: what do you believe is the origins of how our universe began? Has the universe/multiverse always existed? "I don't know" is not a valid answer. You may not know, but at least extrapolate for me what you think it is, given your beliefs.

Good, since it's not proof, but evidence.

Current evidence doesn't point to multiple universes. It points to a big bang, which points to a god. The idea that there are multiple universes came as a result of M-theory, which is based on math. There are mathematical/logical "proofs" for god as well.

People are pissing me off cause they don't understand this.

Jehovah = Allah = God, It's directed at the same entity, just in different languages. You can't expect people who speak Arabic to say God can you? No, they say Allah, it is the same entity. Jehovah is the supposed real name of God.

Why does it matter? Know what this sounds like? It sounds an awful lot like you are forcing your religion down our throats. Let me sink my fangs into your throat, and see how you like it.

Regardless, if there was a Big Bang, it doesn't neccesarly point to a god, for all you know, if that is what you believe, you are worshiping the birth of the universe, and nothing more. Someone who is ætheist can still believe that the big bang happened, and not believe in god.

How can scientist say there was a big bang anyway? The Universe is way to big to make any sort of conclusion of that scale. They use their instruments to look at things, but on the scale of things, these instruments are tiny compared to the rest of the Universe. They haven't said that it definatly happened anyway, it's a theory, they see that is the most probable explanation as to what happened.

    To what?

Ok, how in the hell, can you do that anyway? That is so stupid. "Oh I think my god should have a different name." If you think you can just decide for your god, you don't really believe.
