They are, but by definition, atheists don't have a religion. I believe in evolution too, but that doesn't make me an atheist.

Aedus I already told you I will not get dragged into the argument about whether or not ther is a god. Honestly the reason why I won't get dragged in is because the question is really quite irrelevant to me. The problem with religion isn't whether or not one ir right or wrong but the leap of faith that is required to get there. When people make leaps of faith they make mistake and those mistakes have the ability to make life miserable for other people besidees the person making them. if you want me to believe something you have to be able to prove to some degree and right now the proof I have seen so far makes me prefer the atheist stance versus any other stance.

I'd have to partially disagree with this statement. The majority of Christians and Christian scientists believe in evolution. Also, there are many more Muslims and Jews who believe in creationism than Christians (in terms of numbers).

    Also:
    intellegent design =/= evolution

Intellegent design states that some things require an "Intellegent Designer" (a God) to have been created. Evolution works without the necessity of a God.

Not sure if this is accurate, but I've heard that there are more historians who deny the Holocaust than there are scientists who deny evolution (percentage wise).

Intelligent design is like a middle ground of evolution and creationism, like everything was created in the beginning and guided by god, but still took a natural course in evolution to get what we have now. Not completely exclusive.

Overmind - that sounds more like theistic evolution, which is what I believe in.

Intelligent design on the other hand is still flawed because it attempts to chalk up some phenomena to a supernatural cause instead of explaining it by science completely. It's pretty much an intellectual cop-out, but to a lesser degree than creationism. Things like that have no place in science.

Works for me. I just assumed you wanted to discuss this since you're in the thread. :p

That seems to be a one-sided account of the situation. What about all the good things that religion has done, which frequently goes unnoticed? After all, humans tend to focus more on the negative.

Any scientists that deny evolution are not scientists, or have somehow remained completely ignorant of biology while doing whatever it is that they do in their field. Evolution is all but a fact. Surely, nobody doubts the theory of gravity just because it's a theory.

I just popped in to state my opinion, as I mentioned in my previous post is that since religion requires a level of faith it is extremely unlikely we can could to any agreement is admisable. I could verbally ream you and defend myself with a cloud of confusion and nitpickyness but that wouldn't really achieve anything and would more likely result in a mess that would get this thead locked v. anything else.

As for the second quote from me in your post, if you have a specific goal and know how a situation will play out (proof is what is required here) then you can know for certain what choice would lead to the completition of your goal. If faith is a part of the equation then the oportunities for a mistake is greatly magnified. Whether or not the increased chance of mistakes is a good thing or bad is completely dependent on the goal and a person's opinion of it. I am not saying religion is good or bad I am just saying the more something is based on faith the more mistakes it is likely to make.

Well, 2012 is very fast approaching. Maybe Fenix is on to something! When the economy finally fails and the big earthquake finally hits California, I would very much like to be a warlord and Norse paganism can be just the staple to do it!

Norse mythology is a very pessimistic mythology too, so it's perfect for Fenix!

So the majority of Christians aren't Christian? I favor in evolution, but that's because I dont take the Bible literally. Also, if believing in evolution makes you not a Christian, then that means the Pope isn't a Christian either, as the last 2 popes agreed with evolution.

Maybe becuase Christians only believe in one religion?

I'm pretty sure all religions say the other ones are false: Chistians say Jews/Muslims are wrong, Muslims say Christians/Jews are wrong, Jews say Muslims/Christians are wrong. I know there are other main religions, but I'm just demonstrating with the 3 biggest ones.

It makes just as much sense as worshipping any other god.
