I'm not touching that subject with a 20 ft pole. I don't want to get eaten by FF fanboys... The story was fine, but untouched to this day? Looking at what? Characters? Complexity?

LOL FF Fanboys are RUTHLESS. but ill try to remain composed.

its untouched in the way to story developed for the shinra soldier cloud and the character development surrounded by that as he ventures to find Sephiroth. Between the love Tifa has, Barrett's kid and revolution, Aerith's death. With the suspense the game brought, not suspense like Fear or Resident Evil try to bring on. Suspense like being captured by Shinra.. then next morning everyone is dead and ur cell door is open. The thought behind the game is epic and makes me wanna cry all over again. Ontop of the actual gameplay, where side questing and even Side boss's (tho reproduced in games now adays) was epic in itself. Trying to raise a line of chocobo's or driving a submarine.. or enetering the land of Wu... All un-nessicary and it was definately before its time. AND DONT FORGET THE MUSIC. Red XIII's father, clouds flash backs, his lost village, barretts old jail friend who commits suicide. The death of a MAIN character mid story.

Character development is always my biggest thing with any Film, Anime, or single player game.. that i feel final fantasy is unmatched in the single player world really.

There are games ive played and liked since. but to me, non have left an impact like FF7 did and does.

@Aurora, yes. Although I despise dubbings, his "Łyyyyycha" was just awesome in Polish dub.

    @Tink, every played Planescape: Torment?

You cant compare an MMO or even a hack and slash like say.. d2 to a game like FF7. FF7 is a one time built in story and characters. where MMO's are never ending and always are indepth to try to bring their "world" alive.. like say Star Wars or w/e comes to mind. Where we are talking civilizations vsing eachother.

FF7 is a story about 1 man and the people he meats as he searching for his old mentor. IN A HUGE NUT SHELL.

no i didnt play plainscape but after a WIKI of it.. thats where my above comes from.

Well I hate to stray away form this soon to be argument about FF7, but come to think of it many superheros ended up becoming super villains. Bat Girl, Green Lantern, Superboy Prime, Nightwing, there are many more but I don't want to make this list too long.

can you blame them? i dont think I would last as a super hero trying to fight super villians. Depending on the actual story we are talking about.. since no comic book hero has the same surroundings... but i mean if i woulda been a super hero i woulda ended up using my powers like.. the punisher or batman.. where I effin kill the villian once and for all.

    Fanboy. ;)

But seriously: the story was epic. However, I still think that a game with a less epic story can be just as good. For example, I really liked the Golden Sun games. Still a lot of talking and story complexity, but less epic. Or to go to a different genre: the zelda franshise is holy to me. -and the story gets better with each part-

You got the wrong wiki apparently. Planescape is singleplayer, and arguably the best western RPG to date. Unfortunately I haven't played it through yet, so I can't confirm it, buuut

From what I've seen so far it is better than FF7 (and I'm an FF fanboy so to speak)

Marvel was always more popular then DC in the early years. I believe though DC did alot more targeting of the adult audience in later years which i think caused it to do greater business in the end, as appose to Marvel who almost claimed bankruptcy. I never really got into the comics outside of collecting a few as a kid.. but from what I've read or heard in general.. Marvel was always more popular with superhero's like Superman, Spiderman, Captian America, tho i never heard of DC almost going out of business where.. Marvel almost did.

it sounds good. maybe i can find a fee copy of it in the near future.

Yeah, superman is DC, but why should we care? I thought he also appeared in some Marvel comics?

About queensday: have fun. Those markets here are way to small to find anything good. I am to lazy to go to Nijmegen or something that day. :p

@TiNK: Are you talking just video games? Cause if not, read Dune. Jesus. If you are, I'd say FFX beats FFVII in most respects.

Ah yes FFX, what I call the cursed game. I bought a copy, it didn't work. So I returned it and bought another copy, and that one didn't work. I tried my other games this time and they all worked fine. So I tried all that a third time and my PS2 broke. Fricken cursed game.

Maybe your PS2 was broken from the beginning?

It's unlikely that three components were broken versus just one.
