glad to hear someone as young as yourself talking with justified knowledge on how bad the money system really is and forming an opinion on it :D.

Internet makes people smart! get rid of schools imo, just throw teens onto message boards.

what is one 16 year old girl gonna do about it?

yes, mr president, that's right, one girl is demanding money be declared illegal. no, she has nothing except this lame 'morally righteous' thing as her argument.

Somehow I get the feeling that I wouldn't like this video and would tear apart half of the points its makes. However since atm I don't have time to watch it, I will hold any comment until later. However, I will make this comment based on the disscussion so far, money is not the probelm. If anyone believes that if there was no money everyone would share everything, they are deluding themselves. Money evolved as a means to trade goods, not the other way around. The reason we trade goods still very much exists in this world and will always exist. And before anyone brings up communism, I am just going to warn you it has already been brought up several times and the people supporting communism and been torn to shreds every time...

    Wait wait wait, what?!
And here I thought stealing was older then the invention of money:rolleyes:
I wish I've only seen the message boards you did. You almost sound like you've never been to 4chan or gamefaqs

IMO if anything, internet just makes people stupider. You know that saying about anynomousity and crowd? Of course you can find tons of valuable knowledge here, but that's of use to people who are already smart to begin with and can filter that from all of the idiocy

Indeed the film does cover this. It is not money itself per say, its the idea that big business abuses the money system to further their personal gains.

there are some flaws in the movie, which i'll happily discuss once you have seen it! But overall its message is rather basic and known to many:

Big Business control governments and in turn the people - big business or banks put a country in debt, (3rd world anyone) that country CANNOT get out of that debt, various wealthy fat cats get even more rich, and America can offer to release some of that debt for control over their political leaders or even to have permenant stations and control over said country. A very suspicious form of globalisation.

I may not have put it across very well but yeah, dont worry, burrowed beneath the editing and cinematic control the maker tries to use in the movie there is indeed a message that should really be questioned.

Oh, that thing about how without money we would have no stealing? I must have been drunk on ginger ale when I said that, sorry. I meant that without money, we wouldn't be held back by anything. Except that this world is so messed up, we need money to feel good about ourselves. Having more of something than another makes us feel like we are better than everyone else. The downside is that people can force others into debt and therefore be able to demand anything they want to relieve th em of debt. Without money, most problems are solved. What even gives money any worth? In fact, those paper bills are just paper.

And Kerwyn... just... just don't watch the movie or else you will tear apart half the statements and tell us all the problems of it.

We would be held back even more without many because we would have to barter goods which is a lot more difficult, have you done any economics at school yet DTL? Money has worth because people agree it does, because it makes trade so much more simple. If you meant the world would be better without private property at all then yes, join the club *hands DTL a communism broucher*

His whole post is not quite right? You need to quote only the portion you respond to.

i thought it was rather obvious.. monies prime evil is not that it makes people feel good about themselves over others, this may be a side effect of all materialistic based systems but it certainly isnt the prime evil.

Getting rid of 'money' as in our current trade based system will also, get us nowhere. And unless hes talking about getting rid of the whole trade idea (an idea of which would border impossible) would also not fix the problem, unless via some technological means excess eventually rendered money or trade useless.. as everyone could have a material object that they want.

No chance of that ever happening with banks in control and big business spanking the ass of governments with the : O'l stick'a Influence

Just... Ughhhh... Okay... forget I said that stuff. We need money because it's our main way of trade. Trading paper for real things is a great trade! Removing the money system isn't going to help. There, have I made things clear? You know what we should remove is... Pennies!!! We use more money making a penny than it is worth. Plus, pennies are only good for all the stores that try to use psychology to get us to buy. Oh, like one cent away from 100$ makes it any cheaper. I just don't see how it could work. Don't people even think that... hmmm why put it at 99.99? Why not just 100? It would be so much easier.

Pennies being worthless are a result of inflation, the smallest coin in New Zealand is now 10 cents.

Yes it does work, as people tend to not mentally see 99.99 the same as 100 when shopping for things.

That is... disappointing... they don't think about what stores are doing and just mindlessly buy stuff... But wouldn't 9's signal to the brain, oh that's the highest number under 10! And then 100 has two zeroes, wouldn't people like stuff with zeroes?

No, probably only the first digit matters and it's now 4 instead of 5!

Yeah... but... still, they don't look at the whole price. People don't think when they go and buy things. At a Safeway store near me, there are just small machines that hand out coupons for things related to the aisle. A lot of those things people use everyday, but no one ever uses it. Just getting a good deal from your money can save you a lot every month, yet people mindlessly buy things like money is infinite. Most girls at my school say they go out with friends and just spend everything on cool clothes and other stuff. That's pretty much a waste. I mean... $120 shoes... why would you buy those? It's not like it makes you look rich, and plus who's going to notice it? It's not like everyone watches the ground and looks at people's shoes all the time.

Its obviously because the girls at your school realise the basis behind our economic system. They are trying to increase consumer confidence which in turn stimulates the economy and creates jobs for them in the future. Unlike all the heretics today they are not saving their money but instead they are spending their parents money, you should follow their lead if we are to all be more prosperous.

Must fight indoctrination..... I mean they are wasting money on pointless **** because it makes them feel better as we're all constantly bombarded by advertisements telling us to buy stuff like shoes =O. Regardless if anyone sees the shoes, they will still feel more confident because they have a multibillion dollar corporation holding their hand (wallet).

In other words, don't try to understand women xD

I honestly doubt majority of those girls understand a thing about economics. However you're right that they help economy that way.

And no one has to notice shoes on their own. If you're a girl they'll boast about it the first minute (and through another 30) they see you and if you're a guy you better notice them. It's for your own good.

the worst thing is that guys here do the same, they wear 90 euro shoes in my class, i think the net worth of the clothing of the average kid in my class is 5-7 times the net worth of my clothes
